digitaldaily.allthingsd.com — The company’s Pre App Catalog, which has been widely criticized for its paltry selection, just reached 1 million downloads. Not bad for an app store that launched with just 18 applications and currently boasts only 30.

I wonder where they got that press-and-hold-app-icon idea.

The truth is, that those million people will probably do more video recording, MMSing and web surfing in the next year than all the other phones capable of the same thing put together. Look at the iPhone's 60% share of web surfing on mobile devices despite their small market share. Its just so easy to use and you WANT to surf on your phone. My iPhone is my 4th phone capable of surfing the web, yet the only one that I actually ever used DAILY to access web sites.

This is good news and I hope there become more available soon. Palm needs to stop pulling an Apple and just let people get ahold of the SDK, can't they see what good it did for the iPhone? I have a first generation iPhone and I've been tempted to get the new one but after looking at my bill and realizing that my bill will increase dramatically with the 3G charge plus unlimited messaging, I'm very strongly leaning toward the Pre because it's unique, it's practical and it seems like a lot of fun to use. What I really like is obviously the multi-tasking and the notification system that isn't so intrusive. Case in point, the other day I didn't end up going to a party my friend invited me to so in order to just annoy me or whatever he had everyone at the party text my phone and my phone was literally unusable because of the iPhone's notification system forces you to read the messages as they come in and it was just one text after the other and I eventually just had to turn off my phone. I'd much rather pay less money per month and get the equivalent or better.Oh, and before anyone jumps on me for that last sentence, I'm talking the first generation, not the 3GS so don't bury me into oblivion.

There are more apps for Windows Mobile. Apple App Store shouldn't be the standard to compare to.

That's because Apple cultists are hypocritical and irrational in ways that would make religious conservatives blush.
