Keep in mind that medieval, late renaissance, enlightenment era beers and wines were usually more watered down the modern alcohol.Back then they had to drink alcohol to live and couldn't really be drunk all the time.During the 1800's they figured out better methods to make bottled water or purify existing well water with carbon.
