its sick that people spend less time in jail for rape, murder and assault...wtf is with our laws?Copy a movie?! 20 years!!!Raped that girl?! 2 years!

There is no money lost when you rape a girl...sad but true. Today's laws are made by a special interest controlled government.I am shocked that someone would sit through those movies in order to videotape them. =D

Its called an investment. The companies are the ones who provide the money to pay the actors and workers. Since the company put the money foward and owns it, they get the money. And thats the way capitalism works!

"I hope he's in jail 'til he's 36. People who think they deserve everything for free make me sick."No sir, YOU make me sick, 17 years jail time for this guy would cost the govt about $8 million, its just a waste of taxpayers money when theres no reason for that kind of punishment, if you think he's as big a risk to society as a rapist, you're very much mistaken, this kind of activity isnt down to some sort of psychological f**k up like peadophilia or rape just give him some community service and he'll never do it again.

"Stealing is stealing." Yeah right, white collar embezzlement of $10 million get 2 to 5 years. Steal crappy movies gets you - 17 years. How retarded!Just another case of how our government officials have become corporate whores.Just like not being able to copy DVD's. Another example of government and corporate whorism. It's like you can buy a house (a DVD) but you can't get in it (copy) because you can't open or break the lock (due to DMCA). You could look inside the house all you want but just not get in it.What a joke! This country and the world are becoming corporate whores. For a buck, you're just in luck.

Camcorder piracy accounts for over 90 percent of movies that turn up on the Internet while they're still in theaters, said the head of a movie-industry trade group.I'm calling bulls**t on that one.

Common. Community service and a fine would do fine. Seriously, the amount of taxes going out to accommodate this guy in jail doesn't justify the money that would have been lost to the movie companies involved. I don't advocate this at al, but sometimes stuff gets out of hand.

Was it not a few years ago that the movie industry jacked up the price of movie tickets by 50 cents or more? And why? Because top actors and actresses are requesting even more and more of a salary (thank you Jim Carey). I mean what do top celebs request now 20-30 million a movie! Why not share some of the 20-30 million with the real people at the bottom of the ladder of the movie industry. These are the people who are being claimed to be hurt by piracy. Don't you think they are being a bit selfish!! With the price of a movie which may have proclaimed positive views, the majority of movies is most likely to be non original crap anyway. Are we not falsely drawn into watching these movies by the luring trailers. The same applies to DVDs!!! Extra footage, interviews, etc... How many people actually watch that stuff unless its a movie they really like.I think being caught is a bit stupid, but we should have the right to download without guilt Due to the above. Leave it to the real free countries.

""""""Anyone who calls copyright infringement 'piracy' is an idiot. Whoever starting coining that phrase in terms of copyright infringement was the biggest moron ever, and was likely a member of the US senate. Not only are you likening a CIVIL OFFENSE to the criminal behavior of peg leg (pillage rape murder plunder, anyone?), but you just sound like a pompous zombie who is mindlessly blurting the propaganda bulls**t the RIAA told you.""""""I like the term piracy. Makes it feel exclusive. It does have a bad connotation though. That is why I and some of my friends came up with a new term. Vikinging. Vikings were explorers. Same connotation is not there. I fell the exact same way. Why would you torture yourself with the Bewitched and The Perfect Man. Only to be thrown in jail for it. Sure piracy is in some way possibly wrong. But lets be real 20 years in jail for it. That is just over kill give him community service or a huge fine but do not take a kids life away over BEWITCHED.

well its clear people that because of such instances as this, we are no longer living under a government that can be deemed as a democracy......rather the scope of American government is undergoing a progression towards fascism.... a state where power has shifted from the hands of the people into the hands of a few... and these few who advocate such terrible action.... a state where big business rules with an iron fist
