webworkerdaily.com — The best way to be productive with instant messaging (or chat)? Don’t do it. Seriously, IM can take up your entire day if you let it. Those who stay away from it can get a lot more done. However, if done right, IM can be a great tool for connecting with others, networking, getting things done quickly, and being productive.

It's all about self control, in the end. If you made yourself invisible, then people wouldn't talk to you. Then if you still keep talking on IM, you have no one to blame but yourself. Similarly, I haven't been able to install flash on debian yet because adobe is lame and won't release a 64-bit version (yes, i've followed every tutorial out there. no dice). But I find that I don't really miss watching hours and hours of stupid videos. If i think something is worth watching, I'll digg it and watch next time i boot up xp.

Awesome article. My girlfriend always says that I don't have to use the MSN messenger to be more productive and I still cannot making she understand the power of instant messaging as a communication tool in the work. This article will help. I'll recommend to her
