This sort of inspired me on the spot for a very cool "floating bed idea". Ok, follow me on this thought if you will:Have a very strong center post under the bed, which connects the bed surface to a large flat metal platform that goes on the floor. Then cover the metal platform with a persian rug about the size of the bed, or oversized. It would appear floating or atleast balancing on the single stand, although the support under the carpet would be plenty to keep it from rocking or tipping. Ok, someone patent it and make one.

they look amazing, but I bought one of the NASA -type foam mattresses and that was a waste of money too; think I'll stick to a 'normal' rectangular bed!
