arstechnica.com — Cable modem speed freaks, be patient. One analyst predicts that by 2011, only 40 percent of consumers will be able to take advantage of the higher speeds offered by DOCSIS 3.0. DOCSIS 3.0 achieves its speed boost in part through "channel bonding" (using more than one channel to transmit data) for both up- and downstream transmission.

I find it hard to believe the big 4 would ever allow the upstream to increase to 120Mbps. Currently I have 7 Mbps down, .25 Mbs up. They don't want me to be able to host anything, and this is a problem. Some online classes (University of Utah for instance) are starting to have video feeds of all students as well as the teacher. Students are encouraged to purchase a "small business" Internet connection at about 100 dollars a month so that they can fully engage in this learning activity (because the current upstream is so pathetic).I'd be surprised to see 2Mbps up in my area.

[sarcasm] [pedantic]"learn correct English" is not the correct use of correct, Mr Black Kettle. Whatever might be proper? [/pedantic][/sarcasm]

120Mbit upstream would be...let's see...882 times faster than what I'm getting now. 4 phone lines would beat this cable connection. Maybe 120Mbit for the whole neighborhood, that I'm more willing to believe.

Huawei deployed DWDM Transmission System B/W Netherland and UK with 80 channels each of 100Gbps channel.Hence bandwidth would become 8-Terabps.So you can download 240 DVD movies each of 2h length in just 1 second.
