typies.blogspot.com — "...Many people have asked me about which text type it?s better for a magazine, or a newspaper, or a poster, or a newsletter, or a publication, etc? In general, I give them the solution immediately. But I know that this is not the best answer, because they don?t learn to do this by themselves."

The article is more about what aspects of fonts people don't really know about. I wouldn't have thought about a lot of those. What makes a font good for one thing or the other is more of a case to case situation I would think.

I've only taken high school spanish so this is a bit rough: There are [certain] details that make a typography very legible and [one] is the external counter. You can never imagine [how often] when I am reading a typography when a tidle above the "n" isn't marked well or the difference between a "rn" and a "m". There are typographies that never [bother?] to have the tidle/ascent. Then the text [is taken out of context], period.Basically he is complaing about fonts in which characters can easily be mistaken. My personal "favorite" is a "o" and a zero...

There are some good things in there for people starting out. I know the author knows his stuff despite some tiny english mistakes that don't ultimately matter ("descendants/ascendants" should actually be "descenders/ascenders"). My only real complaint is that some people may still not really get some of the subtleties that the author is trying to get across because of his overt exaggeration; some people may still not get kerning after just seeing extra obvious spaces.

Or a grunge font for a wedding invitation!
