PR 2.0, in summary, includes hints such as: pick the right person to lead the PR effort, identify your target audience, research your contacts before reaching out, measure business results, get a spokesperson? Wow! The world of PR is being truly reinvented. I can't wait until Finance 2.0 teaches us that watching Cash Flow is important and that you should try to have more assets than liabilities.

From this article, I have learned that PR 2.0 is just like PR except that it has a 2.0 beside it and you cater to bloggers instead of media correspondents.

I also stopped reading because of "2.0" everywhere.

I recommend posting to newer social news sites like http://www.subbmitt.com It's similar to Digg, but they essentially default to the queue, so all articles posted make the front page. Your article gets maximum exposure with less effort. This is next to impossible to do on digg or reddit anymore. Also, forget about top bloggers unless you know them, because they get too many emails and you'll most likely get ignored. Friends will only help you so much. Many of them won't help you at all, I know I've tried on a few ventures. You can't cut everyone into your business and many friends will ask "why should I help you get rich" ...unbelievable. PR is hard work for sure. Use press releases, email friends, be active in forums & social communities, don't forget offline stuff like business cards and marketing info. I use marketing cards with URL on them and just leave them everywhere I go. Put them in books & magazines at the book store, leave them in restaurants, clubs, etc. Also THE most important thing you can do is build in a viral loop into your product or service. This is where user of your product or service MUST tell people about it and you automatically grow exponentially. Great examples are Hotmail,Ning, etc.

Web 2.0 - I haven't finished the first one yet. But seriously, one of the best things you can do it stop worrying about your SEO campaign (for online obviously) and start thinking about building an online community. The "social web" (sorry) is really working for online pr and in fact many agencies are starting to refer to SEO now as online PR.
