That's rediculous; for profit can work better than socialized healthcare. The problem is that the companies in the US make a profit by overcharging and underproviding; there are no ceilings to what they can charge, and no minimum standards of coverage. By screwing over their customers, they make huge profits. Were we to enforce a maximum cost and minimum level of service, companies would shift to reducing their overhead to increase their profit and lower costs to draw in more customers. The fully socialized UK has more problems than the mostly privatized Netherlands; also, socialized healthcare at any level retards research. Compare the number of treatments developed in the US per capita compared to the UK; there are far more in the US.
