drweil.com — "...if organic produce is cutting into your budget, it's okay to buy non-organic varieties of the fruits and vegetables listed below, which tend to contain the least amount of pesticides. However, make it a habit to wash them thoroughly before eating or cooking, to remove dirt and bacteria."

Then conventional wouldn't mean conventional.

Bananas are one of the fruits that I'll always buy organic, if I have the choice. There's a big difference in taste.

I am aware that certain kinds of produce it does not matter as much. But if you think organic is a lot of hype --- there are thousands of pesticides and chemicals used, and few have been tested for longterm effects on humans. But just look at the fact that many pesticides (as well as plastics) have estrogenic effects; sexual reproductive organs: prostate, breast, are especially sensitive to this. That is why in some countries where the use is unchecked, young girls are going into puberty at 8 or 9. Our prostate and breast cancer rates are some of the highest in the world. To be complacent that it doesn't matter what you ingest, and that the chemical companies and agribusinesses have your best interest at heart is extremely foolish if you look at your history over this century alone. Also, part of the reason for antibiotic resistance in humans use in cattle and dairy farming. Inform yourself, do your homework.

But they do contain more carcinogenic byproducts from bacteria, molds and insects. In addition, there are a million reasons why cancer rates are up, and some of it has to do with us just being healthier and living longer. With a turn of logic as dumb as yours, I could say that life expectancy is up since the use of GMOs began.Lastly, pesticides aren't good for you, clearly, but some non-organic crops such as golden rice, hold the key to saving millions of people a year.
