Less is definitely more.

Yeah... seems like a hint to me. We rushed our site up to meet a deadline for a prospective client. Now, every day, I get some reminder that there are plenty of things we should be doing that we didn't. We've been out for three months and I'm eyeing a redesign. Oh well, such is the ever changing world of web.

Perhaps one could search for sites which show some or all of these 10 no-no's and then contact them with an offer to redesign their website...

Probably not completely wrong, but it would be a mistake to assume everyone on Digg is a web designer or can write code.I'm really interested in tech, and I'm fairly handy with a computer, but I've never had the time to learn HTML or any other coding. My business page violates a couple of the "rules" here, primarily because I haven't had that time. I'm then somewhat at the mercy of canned programs (and currently not budgeted for a web designer) and their limitations.Given that - some extra guidance isn't a bad thing from my perspective.

Pretty basic stuff but all designers know how common these issues arise with clients. Flash can look sexy but the problem is that Internet technology isn't advanced enough to make it seamless. So many pages using flash are loading so slowly, even with cable Internet. An old post but a good one.

Agreeable post. Reality check, it's better to have this guidelines for those who are starting up to have their own business' homepage.
