++digg. Ubuntu has made me a Linux junkie and I owe every bit of it to the great community surrounding the distro. If only more Windows users could see the light.
I digg. I have Ubuntu running on my laptop with wifi usb dongle working (with flaws, mainly having to modprobe it at every reboot) and edubuntu on kids desktop. I would have to say I love the distro and I have learned alot about linux in the last month. If you have wanted to use linux but was scared this distro is for you. Easy install over with windows for dual boot.
I like Ubuntu a lot. I've been using it from the start; when it first came out I'd already been drifting towards Debian based distros (Mepis and Libranet to be exact) so its premise of being a frozen snapshot of Sid sounded pretty good to me and I gave it a try and I'm still using it over a year later. I enjoy experimenting with other distros, but Ubuntu remains my favorite.
I agree with ajs05, the EasyBreezy (Easy Ubuntu?, whatever) script is worth the trip. I've done 4 or 5 ubuntu installs, and this will make life much more pleasant for my next one. Also, thanks jdong for the Xubuntu tip.-rcmiv
Well it took a few days to get EVERYTHING running. But I only spent about 3 hours total. Looks nice, I got WIFI WORKING! Thanks to a few of you linux peeps helping me. My system is way faster now, it's a 3.2 gig laptop... I can actually feel the power now! Open Office isn't bad... but I am looking for a more pro suite... I am a writer. Any recommendations?

Great post. ++ Digg. Ubuntu is defintely a more attractive distro to non-power users just interested in learning a bit.
