Dude, all I'm saying is "Web 2.0" is a combination of things (yes, some which have been around for awhile) that when used together, form a new and innovative approach to using the web. It's like throwing stuff into a melting pot, mixing it, and getting something new.
i am a web-developer and I hate the term "web 2.0". i really like the great and creative use of technologies that make websites like digg possible, however I hate the stupid web 2.0 buzzword
If you look historically at any mass media (print, radio, TV), adoption first happened nationwide to serve corporate sponsors. Then much of it trickles down to serve local advertisers. Network TV -> local affiliates and cable channels. USA Today -> your local newspaper. NPR -> your local radio station.Usually there's a self-correction when this shift happens as the media/consumer/advertiser relationship defines itself. The web is no exception. We had our dot-com bust, and now Google pays a trillion to Myspace so that they can serve local targeted ads.Web 2.0 is hard to define in tech terms. In marketing terms, its simple - its the natural evolution that all media goes through.
all you elitist old farts that hate on "Web 2.0" obviously dont even know what you're talking about. "Digg is made up or XHTML, PHP, MySQL, Javasript and CSS not f**king Web 2.0" a) that has nothing to do with what web 2.0 is b) each of those things are often used in web 2.0 applications. Web 2.0 is the movement from a static boring internet to a dynamic interactive one that allows us to access information in new and interesting ways. dont worry guys, there will always be people like you that will make crap websites that look like a 12 year old's first attempt at a geocities website and think thats what the internet's supposed to look like.
How do you use a word without meaning? Who do you tell it to? What meaning does it have when you use it?If I type a bunch of random caracters here, should it help my point? What if I said it did "because I said so"?

I know you aren't serious, but it's quite ironic (not to mention stupid and pathetic) that, after 2 seconds, I found a job ad on Monster.com looking for a "Web 2.0 Developer"<a class="user" href="http://jobsearch.monster.com/jobsearch.asp?cy=us&fn=6&lid=473&q=&re=104&x=1&y=1">http://jobsearch.monster.com/jobsearch.asp?cy=us&fn=6&lid=473&q=&re=104&x=1&y=1</a>What a joke.
