bleacherreport.com— NBA trades have often set organizations back 10 years in progress while sending the other team to pick up bright shinny rings each summer on a regular basis.

Ummm... what about when the bucks traded Kareem Abdul-Jabbar? He made it to the finals 8 times with Magic Johnson... He won a total of six championships while with the Lakers and Bucks AND remained scandal free off the court. THAT is the dumbest trade ever, not the Kobe trade. Kobe has only been good for 3 championships and a rape charge.
Devin was always in Avery's dog house. At the time of the trade, we were thinking Avery would stay and Kidd would have fit better with our style of play. It is all about the system you are playing in. People tend to forget that there are just as many if not more offensive systems in the NBA than in football or other sports. Devin wasn't getting the freedom he's getting now and if he was still in Dallas he wouldn't have been set completely loose even with the new coach. New Jersey BUILT the offense around Devin and his strengths in the offseason. After the trade, Devin's numbers weren't any different than they were in Dallas, it wasn't until they told Devin he was the man and specifically built the system around him in the off season that he did anything different. You can argue that there are numerous talented players like Devin in the league that would flourish in the same circumstances. A struggling team with one aging star and the keys to the team with no one to challenge your on-court decisions.Having said all that, everyone in Dallas knew Devin was a special player and we really took a chance on him and spent time developing him into the player he is today. I was against trading him but am really happy to see him do so well with his new team.
Cry baby Carter for Eric Williams, Aaron Williams and Alonzo Mourning. Then had to pay mourning 10 mil. to go play for the heat (I think). Toronto got ripped off big time.

Denver Nuggets can't even make the s**ttiest trades ever list. At least we'd have something to blame on 3 decades of mediocrity.
