I was just working on my rss feed and this came in handy! has been buried to -4 and @axelgrease:Linking the wordpress feed to a feedburner account is definitely useful is @ -2. why are people burying these? these are much better comments then whats usually posted. i cant stand what digg is becoming. too many trolls
If you can accomplish the same effect in little time WITHOUT a plugin, I say that's the way to go.That way, you understand the problem and the solution, and you aren't relying on a third party to ensure they support and update the plugin through various releases of WP.

You can use feedburner plugin and avoid htaccess edit.
