pcworld.com — Windows Vista is loaded with features, but they don't all work as they should. Here's how to tweak, modify, cope with, or work around the operating system's biggest blunders. If these features are the worst in Windows Vista, then I'll say that Vista is in pretty good shape. Many of them are "I don't like how this works" or "I want a SPACESHIP!!!".Disabling UAC for admins but leave it on for standard users? That has to be the worst decision ever. If anything do it the other way around. If you disable UAC for administrators, then you give all programs admin rights. Yeah, you may know what you are clicking on, but what about all that stuff that just launches without you knowing? I guess the author is a Jedi...External backup is part of windows. It depends on the version of Windows Vista which backup features are available.Program uninstall.... sooo, how exactly should this work from a technical standpoint? It's funny that he should mention .doc. There exists official Office Sidebar gadgets that do that....

Most of that stuff doesn't really apply to me.I don't use Backup programs, i might throw source code onto a disk once in a while.I don't use Internet Explorer.I use a router for a firewall. And as suggested when I had a Vista computer I turned UAC off.The only real issue I had with Vista was Windows Explorer being much slower than in XP. Games still played at the same speeds, and all my hardware worked properly.

I don't even like Vista, but I gotta admit this article was pretty terrible. His answer for every little thing he didn't like was "Well, I use this great program ($$$$)...". Even in Vista, you can accomplish most of what he wants without buying some third-party app. He recommended:$50 + $60 ($5/month for a year) + $70 + $25 + $25 + $20 = $250. WTF?
