makeuseof.com — I format my Mac once a year, either because it?s clunked up with old .prefs files or because I just feel like performing a zero-out on my hard disk. One good thing about owning a Mac is never having to worry about installing drivers after reformatting. So that?s one problem avoided....

Macs are just the same as every other OS, in that an occasional re-install boosts system performance back up to where it should be. Trust me.

Why would you want to delete those .prefs and .plist files anyway? You never visit the folders they are stored in.It's not going to slow down your computer or anything. And if you decide to re-use an app you deleted, your prefs are still there!I guess AppZApper weights more than all you .prefs fils combined.

Not I. I only reload the OS when I upgrade to the next one. That's about every 4-5 years. It's the average dumbf**k American that installs every shareware app that has a blinking light or something else shiny, so that they strangle their system every six months. That and the unibrow IE is so s**tty that these people are getting viruses every other page load. I've cleaned off idiots machines with 30+ virii/malware/etc.The failing of Windows is also it's greatest strength. The free, open architecture of the core OS allows sooo many things to be done, but it also lets the user get in serious trouble if they are naive to computers or morons. Usually both. My tone was only at the pretentiousness and assh**ery that most Mac people exhibit over something that they have not had to do because they can't really do anything with their machine. Macs have never had freedom of anything with the OS, (I used to call it the Stalin OS when I was forced to work with them). That's why they didn't break/have malware, etc. This is now changing, there's more software becoming available for Mac's (finally!) which means more malware, more crap shareware, and more reloading the OS.Uppity, self-centered egotistical dicks took this as self-affirmation of their superiority and brayed it all over town. Now they are doing the same dumb s**t as these idiot Windows users, and I get to laugh at both sides! :)(For the record, I don't dislike the Mac..don't like it either, I just hate the people)
