PuTTY also has the added caveat of only being useful for Windows, considering most distros of linux come equipped with clients for PuTTY supported protocols, whereas Vista doesn't even come with a telnet client by default anymore..

Your a tool. Metasploit is a framework for creating exploits. Yes it comes with a bunch of built in "hacks", but to truly use the tool you need to know how to create exploits. I will totally recant this statement if you have gotten more then one paragraph into smashing the stack for fun and profit.tool
