I've noticed people on Digg complaining a lot about "pointless blogs that nobody reads". Well, I have a blog (psst - www.QuigSpot.com ), and I post on it less for other people than I do for myself. It's just something to have fun with, and I'm pretty sure that's the mindset many other bloggers have as well.So what's the big deal? Even if the blog sucks, it's not hurting anybody.
I'd like to know, as a blogger, how many "10 things every blogger should know" articles I need to read?? It seems that every day, there are "10 things every blogger should know", or "10 design tips every web designer needs to learn" or "15 things that you must do to your blog, so that you don't spontaneously combust and your wife runs away with a stripper and your car breaks down on a deserted road and your house is flooded and nobody reads your blog because you're a loser"Really, if you're a blogger, there are only a few things to remember:1. Keep it SIMPLE2. If you don't have anything to write about, it doesn't matter what you do to your blog, NOBODY WILL READ IT.3. Keep it witty, even if you have things to write about, nobody will read something that makes them fall asleep.4. Finally, network....tell your friends. If they like it...they'll suggest it to their friends..and so on and so forth. But again, if you don't have the first three, networking can't resurrect your site.
this is cool and all but i think xkcd needs to redo it. who ever made this didn't spend enough time on it. (having several categories labeled misc. come on) xkcd would put alot more thought in to it and make it alot better. kinda like the map of the internet.http://xkcd.com/c256.html
it's a good thing "at least once" is part of the title.. before i got to the end of said title, i was unsure as to what the minimum amount of times i would need to read this article was.
What should have been #1 on that list is "Learn to spell and use correct grammar." That is the starting point for any type of writing. To disagree is to equate finger painting with master artists. It does matter if one knows the difference between lose and loose, between your and you're, etc etc. One may be able to communicate one's message without said knowledge, but one looks illiterate doing so. Besides, if communicating one's message in any manner one wishes suffices, the English language would have never been developed to the extent that it has. We'd simply grunt and bang on rocks.
