My thoughts exactly. I know there is a doomsday seed on an island off of norway, but they should have frozen DNA from these animals there too. It would be a shame to lose these critters.

so sad our future generations are likely to know these only from old photos. I wonder what they will think about us and whether they will be asking why didn't we do enough to save these wonderful creatures. They have just as much right to be on this planet as we do if not more.

I'm all for the preservation of endangured species, but aren't some species just not fit to survive today? I mean, whether it is caused by indirect/direct human interaction or have nothing to do with human interaction what-so-ever - nothing lasts forever.
