sciencentral.com — As the infamous Randy Newman song goes, "Short people got no reason to live." Well, researchers now say some short people might actually be living longer, thanks to their genes. This video explains how a gene that affects people's growth might also help control aging.

Who the hell wants to live over a century? Especially if you have massively degraded health. What if you have to use a cane to walk and can't really drive anymore? I think anything over 80 years would be more than enough for me... If I can't do it within 80 years, I sure won't be able to do it then.Now... if they could freeze me and bring me back in 100 years... that would be cool.

It's easy to say that you wouldn't change being short when you're freakin 6' 5"; you've never been through what a short person has. That's like being thin and saying, "I'd never get liposuction if I was fat." I'm not saying it's the most traumatic experience ever, but it's not that easy either. I've gone through my whole life with people mocking me, looking down on me (sometimes literally), and underestimating me just because I was short. That can really get to you. Personally, I wouldn't ever try to change myself to be taller, because, as you said, this is who I am and I'm quite happy with that. However, I could see how someone would be more than willing to do anything to gain a few inches.

I concur wholly. Who would want to live in this steaming pile of s**t we're going to have in a couple hundred years? I would rather have a shorther life span with better quality of life.
