I would add "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" by Ken Kesey. Great novel.

You know what, after having read three books by Palahniuk I have to say that all of his books are essentialy the same thing.

I like Moby Dick, but maybe because I like deep sea fishing and being out on the open sea. I am too a big fan of Philip K. Dick.I just finished "Martian Time Slip" and "The Golden Man". I did not realize that the unabridged version of Les Miserables is 1400 pages, I'm laboring through 300+ version. I do like the old pics of classics that I own or someday will own. I am currently attempting to purchase all of the books from the "1001 books to read before your die" list. Though I'm only looking to purchase them second-hand never paying more than a $1.00 for them. I have recently gotten for free a bookcase to house them all in my office in the garage. I've read about 30 of them and own about 80+. A long road ahead.

AlextheK: I hate to be the grammar nazi, but when you're making a statement about terrible writing don't use consecutive adverbs

Good point. Where is Das Kapital?

High Fidelity or About a boy. Good point. And while on the more modern British books, what about Irvine Welsh?
