motomodders.net — A forum at MotoModders has the details and simple steps you can take to run a simple hack on any iTunes phone (except the v3i) to raise the song cap to 1000. Unfortunately, there's one catch: the little app you have to run is Windows-based, so you'll need a PC or Boot Camp to actually do this (sorry, Parallels doesn't support USB devices - yet).

First, you have to de-n00b yourself and do a little bit of research on the site. Second, if you have a stock 512 card, you're going to get on average between 100-140 songs on there.

Parallels might not support USB, but virtual pc does. :-)

The reason this is big is because 1000 songs is likely more than you could fit on one of the current (non-modded) iTunes phones. And the current arbitrary 100 song cap keeps people from putting as much music on the phones as they can actually hold.

Dude, the excerpt was ripped from TUAW directly. Give credit where credit is due.http://www.tuaw.com/2006/04/25/1000-song-hack-for-itunes-phones/

no problem :)

This is a cool hack, but as everyone else said the limitation is more USB 1.1. If you change your tastes in music or enjoy podcasts this phone is basically unusable as a music player.

do you have to be so percise? the actualy limit for my slvr L7 is 512 mb, i could probly fit 137 song on it.do u think they could actulay calculate that s**t out? no they just throw a large number out there, one no one could possibly reach, that way everyone will be hapy. think of the "1000 song hack" as basicaly a "no limit hack". they could probly have bumbed it up as far as they wanted, say 10000, but after 1000 whats the point.

I am a NooB when it comes to this stuff. Am I correct by thinking I can use this hack, and buy a 2GB memory card, then the phone would be much like a nano? If I use the hack and get a 2GB or larger sd card then I would be able to have 500+ songs easily right? ty for any help
