blogs.abcnews.com — In a statement, Simpson, a member of the National Center for Transgender Equality's board of directors, said that "as one of the first transgender presidential appointees to the federal government, I hope that I will soon be one of hundreds, and that this appointment opens future opportunities for many others." Liberalism is a mental disorder.

fta:"A 2004 YWCA "Woman on the Move," Simpson recently served as Deputy Director in Advanced Technology Development at Raytheon Missile Systems in Tucson, Arizona. At Raytheon, Simpson -- a former test pilot who had worked for the company for more than a generation"Obviously qualified to be a technical advisor in the Bureau of Industry and Security, but please let's focus on the transgender issue. That's *clearly* the most important part of this story.

well you would be a man with mutilated junk.

I'm sure the appointment was based only on the most qualified candidate. the transgendered thing had nothing to do with it. and if that is the case he can dress like Dolly Parton and Slap his own ass to start every meeting for all i care./it was like "oh my gawd can you believe it... the most qualified person for the job is a dude-chick. how awesome!"

"That's *clearly* the most important part of this story."Clearly, yes. We mustn't let the part about being mentally ill get in the way of a PC choice for any post.

If you mutilate yourself, you are still a man because your gender doesn't change.Transgender individuals gender doesn't change either, they've always been of one gender while being in an opposite gender's body.Undergoing hormone treatments and sexual reassignment surgery is a way to bring the body inline to one sex/gender, since the brain's gender cannot be changed, while the body's appearance can.As far as gender is concerned, you are the gender you identify as mentally. As far as sex is concerned, you are the sex you resemble physically. That's it.Transgenderism is not an excuse nor does anything need to be excused. Anyone can undergo sexual reassignment surgery if they want, but transgenders actually have a valid reason to, not an "excuse."About the appointment, why do you not think it's true? Do you not think a transgendered person would ever be the best qualified for a job?

Well, removing the transgender issue...had this been a Republican president's appointee, everyone would have been complaining about the military industrial complex and how multinational defense contractors like Raytheon put their ranking employees in government posts to make sure Raytheon continues to exert influence on the federal government. But because it's Obama, now it's, "oh cool, this person's experience in private defense industry really qualifies them."

Had this been a Republican president's appointee, their prior experience would have been something like running horse shows, as opposed to something relevant.

haha sure, because there are no Republicans working in the defense industry and in the military? A lot of Bush's appointees had relevant experience from defense contractors like Lockheed, General Dynamics, and Raytheon. Quite a few in high-ranking positions.Donald Winter and Gordon England being just two high profile examples http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_Winter http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gordon_R._England
