One word: Podcasts.1TB is enough for any small to medium sized podcast, anyone want to start rumors that we get a podcasting tool at the expo? Wouldn't surprise me in the least.
Going back to that 3Mbps streaming rate, that would be 380 movies a month. At 2 hours each (as stated originally) thats 760 hours every month... which is more hours than there are in a month. Also, why would apple bother hosting the movie in ur .mac, instead of noting that ur account is allowed to access a movie??
I had a look at the Buy More page for my dotmac account. The only option available was "Upgrade to 2 GB of storage / 25 GB data Transfer per month (49.95 USD per year)" No 1TB per month option.
@Bluestarr - yeah look at your idiot troll pro apple comments on any other non-apple site, plus you go and rate comments that aren't troll comments as -3 and such, just so people don't see both sites. You have less than 1/2 a brain.
I really want a confirmation, as I'll move my podcast over there in two seconds if it's true. I see the screenshots, but I can't find a similar screen for my own account. Where can I find my data transfer info?
I think .mac rocks. You just need to know how to use it. I have my site rickmontero.com and blog there. Then all my video and photo crap is hosted on .mac. Gives me a lot of breathing room on my blog. Also iSale can use .mac to host pics so that you dont have to pay ebay fees for hosting your pics.
This might be more like a "savings account" for stuff purchased from iTunes Music Store. Note that they only mention bandwidth increase, not storage. All apple has to do is add an alias from their own media server into your .Mac folder for all your purchases, and they eat the whole 17k space it takes for the link. But you can either click the link in your account and it will stream to whatever computer you are on, anywhere. Or if you are on an authorized computer, you can download it to your mac. This makes sense for when ITMS offers more shows and starts selling movies. That way you won't always have to have a terabyte harddrive to store your huge movie/music/podcasts library on, but still have certain ones on your laptop/iPod for portability. This would also solve the "my harddrive died and I don't have a backup of my ITMS purchases, and Apple won't let me download them again without paying." issue.
