maxconsole.net — Just a few short days ago, we broke the news to the world of a World's First PSP Modchip called Undiluted Platinum. We are now delighted to share with you the COMPLETE specifications of the chip as well as how it all functions - as if that wasn't enough, we even have a pic of how the Undiluted Platinum (UP) looks inside a PSP once installed!

As someone who's had much experience opening up the PSP, I must say that the LCD becomes a dust MAGNET when exposed to the air (as if it wasn't already a dust magnet when it's "sealed"). Make sure you have a can of compressed air readily available, and try not to be a pixel perfectionist like me, you'll have to live with some dust.

While not $180 it's pretty close at $199.24http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=3611169I agree though. That's one hell of an expensive modchip. I'd expect the prices to drop significantly once more start getting produced.

ucLinux is meant for systems with no mmu.http://uclinux.org

@Dimensio:The PSP currently runs an in-house developed variant of NetBSD. Yes, its not going to run the current MIPS compatible kernel(s)... There's no reason why µClinux can't run on it, either. And that's all it takes.

Can't wait to get one of the modchips for my psp. Even if its like a couple months before you can get one I'm good as I still have v2.0 firmware..

@DimensioNo, I purchased one on U.S. Launch day, and yes, it did come with FW 1.0. I went through 3 psps trying to get one without a dead pixel, the i got one with only one and gave up, now it has two, but I did use a 2.6 downgrader so now I have 1.5. There is no way in hell I'm giving up this PSP.
