Zero chance he doesn't play in 2010.

Because he already has in the NFC championship game in January.

Steelers for 4-6 games?

What is the difference between Ben Roethlisberger, and Mickey Mouse?
Mickey Mouse is not a rapist.

How many times has the MEDIA not Favre announced his retirement, like today.
Closed AccountAug 3, 2010
Favre told the Vikings he's planning to retire. The media reported it. That's the purpose of the media. Don't be daft.
csheikhAug 4, 2010
Really, who did Favre tell? Do you have proof of that, other than "unnamed sources". Don't be an idiot.
Closed AccountAug 4, 2010
The source was Visanthe Shiancoe. He was named in the reports as saying Favre texted his teammates and said he was retiring. Favre has done this too many times to receive any benefit of the doubt.
csheikhAug 5, 2010
Shiancoe wasn't interviewed until their second practice of the day, which was long after the rumors were already flying. Do you think they might be bulls**tting a little bit and have some fun when they get constantly asked about Favre?

No.
sgerwel1985Aug 3, 2010
The guy might be "wishy-washy" when it comes to retirement. However, lets be honest, if you were a 40 year old man playing a 20's year old game you have to make sure your body is ready to take another 16 or more games. The man has more than enough of a right to be like this and take this time.
In the end, he has another week or two to get his body right before he has to make any definite decision. I would imagine he does return and gives it one more go. I REALLY do not see him missing week 1.
udjetAug 3, 2010
I think this recent turn has more to do with how they are paying the unproven rookies. I think he wants more money. Why should some punk like Bradford make as much (or more) as a proven all-star? I think Favre is only going to be the first of many when it comes to veteran contract agreements.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
sgerwel1985Aug 3, 2010
Do you know who Brett Favre is? This man has never really ever caused a stink over the amount he is paid, let alone rookie contracts. What is going on is as simple as this. At 40, if he right now (assume) is only 40% healthy, after the course of just 3 weeks in the regular season he might not have enough in the tank to finish the final 13 games of the season. He does NOT want to tarnish his consecutive starts, he DOES NOT want to retire MID season. The man wants to make sure, if/when he steps on that field in week 1, that he is ready to go the ENTIRE way.

Why do all of the people on my Facebook news feed have to post something about this today? How is that their status?

I s**t you not, this guy is actually making the media in Minneapolis harmful.
About a month ago there was a triple homicide in a quaint neighborhood where my grandma lives. I was helping her out *as it happened* a block away from me. I saw 9 cop cars flying to it, and waited around to hear what happened.
Guess what was the top story on the news the next morning.
"Brett Favre announces he hasn't made a decision yet"
I called into the station literally screaming about their choice of top story. Triple Murder, or washed up Prima Donna football star? It made me sick.
antonkoolaidAug 4, 2010
He is not washed up. He just had his most statistically impressive season at the age of 40. Washed up would be your grandmother's panties.
And yes, Brett Favre coming back or not is way more important to me than a triple murder. My neighborhood in Minneapolis is just as quaint and I could care less if they choose to cover murders on the daily news as long as the nine cop cars there are doing their job. You are what's wrong with America.
antonkoolaidAug 4, 2010
I digg it.
aeiouAug 4, 2010
And to think.... so many people complain that there's too much emphasis on murders and drugs on the news....
metropolisflcAug 4, 2010
I live in Mpls as well... Don't know why you're all digging anton down. We're at 30 murders in Minneapolis already this year, it's not exactly a rare event. He's what's wrong with America? Not all of us care to hear all the juicy details of how (insert psychopath here) finally snapped and killed people. Not to trivialize murder, but what the f**k else is new. People get killed, and what are we supposed to do about it? By the way, I do believe it was the top story for about a week and it depressed the s**t out of me...So why should I even care?
alexbarnes94Aug 4, 2010
"Not to trivialize murder, but what the f**k else is new."
Not to trivialize Brett Favre pretending to retire and de-retire over and over again, but what the f**k else is new?
metropolisflcAug 4, 2010
hah. touche.
csheikhAug 4, 2010
You blame him because of what the media writes and the public read? Get your head out of your ass.
dafragstaAug 3, 2010
To be fair, he was competitive every time he came out of retirement. All three teams made the playoffs and two made it to the NFC championship game. He didn't come out to be exclusively selfish. He helped his teams win.
gosuhaxerAug 3, 2010
I like Brett Favre.
artosrcAug 3, 2010
I like kicking Favre-likers in the groin. We should hang out sometime.
antonkoolaidAug 3, 2010
Umm.. pretty sure neither he or the Vikings have confirmed anything, so I don't see how he should be annoying anyone right now. (Public Mood: freaking out about rumors when he's clearing going to be on the field at the Superdome September 9th.)
flyblackboxAug 3, 2010
Brett Favre was awesome when i was in 5th grade
wreckageAug 3, 2010
How's 6th grade treating you this year?
/s
He was awesome last year.
flyblackboxAug 4, 2010
I didn't say he was only awesome that year
aeiouAug 4, 2010
Well, he actually won the super bowl when I was in 5th grade....
flyblackboxAug 4, 2010
me too
leif77Aug 3, 2010
I really don't care what anyone says. Yes, its getting annoying. Yes, its going to be hard for him to gracefully retire after all of this confusion. But, you cant deny that he had a fantastic season last year and will go down as one of the best quarterbacks in the history of the league. Its just tough to see him cope with the end of his career.

I made my own Brett Favre illustration... much easier to follow:

udjetAug 3, 2010
No, I don't know who Brett Favre is. The closest I can claim is that I have been a Vikings fan since before he started playing. Never caused a stink about how much he got paid? How would you know? Are you part of the negotiations? That's why he wouldn't sign for less than $13 million a year for two years for MN? I'd pretty much guarantee he's playing this year. Chilly has already stated they are willing to up his pay to get him to come back. It's not just coincidence this "leaked out" right after Bradford (a punk rookie) just signed for $73 million ($50 million guaranteed) for six years. You can't honestly believe the veterans aren't looking at these guaranteed payouts and bonuses without getting a little pissed off. The guy is a huge egomaniac. Also, I highly doubt you "know who Brett Favre is" either, other than what you've heard on T.V.
I'd also like to point out that I started with "I think", which makes it pretty clear that it is my OPINION.
wreckageAug 3, 2010
Everyone calm down. He is going to retire from retiring.
Actually he's just skipping camp....again.
cpmccarronAug 4, 2010
Does he not know that the coaching staff would just let him skip if he said he didn't want to do it?
mechrisAug 4, 2010
I'm tired of Favre. Just friggen retire already and get it over with. Attention whore.
csheikhAug 4, 2010
Then stop giving him attention and commenting and reading all the stories about him. IT IS YOUR FAULT, not his.
canucke93Aug 4, 2010
Actually he didn't.
"Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre doesn't know where all this retirement talk is coming from, according to Vikings kicker and close friend Ryan Longwell. Longwell, who had spoken to Favre before the morning practice — before hearing about reports that Favre was retiring — talked to him again between the morning and afternoon practices. The reports, Longwell said, puzzled the quarterback. "He was wondering about how this all got out, like we all were," Longwell said. "I certainly didn't get the feeling that he's looking at any kind of deadline. We were all surprised this morning that this was the story of the day."

Favre didn't tell the Vikings s**t. If you believe ESPN would know before his own coach your very daft indeed.
danno1982Aug 4, 2010
More like ESPN's lies are annoying.
fadetooneAug 4, 2010
I'm telling you, he's retiring from being retired.
aaronrossAug 4, 2010
should have mentioned that last season was one of the best in his entire career,at least, if he does retire, he went out on an amazing note
gkiltzAug 4, 2010
I am really convinced that this has become a case of the mind is willing, but the body says no!
Better to retire now than end up like Terry Bradshaw, Joe Namath or the late Johnny Unitis, all of whom tried to wring out one more year, and not only didn't get through the year, but embarrassed themselves and hurt the entire team!!
alexalm1Aug 4, 2010
No chance that he's not under center in the fall. He can't stay away. Here's another take on the "retirement." http://purechatter.com/2010/08/04/favremanias/
