The Worm is my favorite! Vote the man in!!!!
diggtwofaceAug 12, 2010
Rodman during the bulls era was really entertaining
greenroom628Aug 13, 2010
but tame by today's standards.
onlyscAug 12, 2010
just for rebounding and carmen electra, not for the hair or wearing a dress
kornbred79Aug 12, 2010
5× NBA Champion (1989, 1990, 1996, 1997, 1998)
2× NBA All-Star (1990, 1992)
2× NBA Defensive Player of the Year (1990–1991)
2× All-NBA Third Team (1992, 1995)
7× All-Defensive First Team (1989–1993, 1995–1996)
All-Defensive Second Team (1994)
7× NBA rebounding champion (1992–1998)
If he is not Hall of Fame worthy, I don't who is.
rufiohoAug 12, 2010
thanks for the stats, didn't realize they were that good for him. I would like to know how many technical fouls he had?
liam2012Aug 12, 2010
Can't argue with the facts!

the whole thing, in fact

Well f**king said, Kornbred79. Rodman rules! He definitely deserves a place in the basketball hall of fame, hands down.
jefreeAug 13, 2010
I love the guy for making basketball entertaining and a scrappy defensive game; I guy who can barely make a free throw, but makes his team much better nonetheless. But those stats are obvious and thanks for listing it out- he's gotta be into the hall of fame and has done nothing so over the top criminal that his off court antics should deny him.
cawpinAug 13, 2010
Off the court antics have nothing to do with whether somebody is hall of fame worthy.
clyentnineAug 13, 2010
If it weren't for the rings these are basically Ben Wallace stats.
But championships are what counts and Rodman won with the Bulls and the Pistons proving he didn't just ride Jordan's coattails.
Vote him in.
holygodAug 13, 2010
He only made 2 all star teams? I would have guessed more, especially at least one when he was high profile with the bulls.
rahazAug 13, 2010
Yeah kind of funny how he got NBA defensive player of the year in '91 and didn't even make it to the all star teams.
jrod4040Aug 12, 2010
Yes, he is.
farhanleoAug 12, 2010
yup definitely he is!
7king7kingAug 12, 2010
Yeah why not

As weird as his personal life is, I think he's definitely deserving.
lbuchaAug 12, 2010
YES YES YES!!!!!!!! don't let the man's eccentricity overshadow his talent!

...and the fashion hall of fame too
beerhoundAug 13, 2010
No way. His defensive skills? Definitely. His rebounding skills? Absolutely. His fashion choices? No way. He just wasn't faaaabbbbulous enough.
mlvassalloAug 13, 2010
He could rebound like a beast. He was a part of one of my favorite San Antonio teams. I'd vote him in.
spazattack5000Aug 13, 2010
Come on, how many NBA players starred in movies with Jean Claude Van Damme?
ikkyixoAug 13, 2010
And Sylvester Stallone
spazattack5000Aug 13, 2010
What was he in with Stallone? I could look it up but instead I will just assume you mixed him up with blond Wesley Snipes.
gettempapaAug 17, 2010
I always just assume people are talking about Wesley Snipes. What else is worth talking about?
jedisean12Aug 13, 2010
I'm pretty sure that the hall of fame only accepts humans.
/MIB
xtractorAug 13, 2010
what makes you think that?
jayhawk88Aug 13, 2010
It comes down to this: Rodman is the only person to average more than 13 rebounds a game for his career, who played in the past 20 years. Cowens is the next most recent guy on this list, playing until '82-83, but even he was pulling down less than 10 a game after the '77-78 season.
If you know anything about the history of the NBA, you know this is a big deal. Combined with his defensive ability yes, he's a no-brainer HOFer.
smacksawAug 13, 2010
Yes because of his accomplishments.
No because he could have done so much more and played only D to prove some sort of asinine point to people who no longer cared about it. He failed to live up to his potential. Remember when he scored? I do.
/loves Rodman
anoriginalnameAug 24, 2010
you don't keep a guy out cause "he could have done so much more", that's stupid.
shingoexAug 13, 2010
"Because, if we look purely at Rodman’s basketball record, he has to be in. "
There ya go. Everything else is a non-issue, and if these non-issues affect his indoctrination, then there's a serious problem with the system.
onjiAug 13, 2010
Hate to be 'that guy', but:
indoctrination - to instruct in a doctrine, principle, ideology, etc., esp. to imbue with a specific partisan or biased belief or point of view.
induction - 2. the act of inducting; introduction; initiation. 3. formal installation in an office, benefice, or the like.
shingoexAug 13, 2010
I stand corrected. I was scrambling for the term :P
Closed AccountAug 13, 2010
No brainer. Who would say no?
shingoexAug 13, 2010
...anyone who takes his off-court shenanigans and places them at the forefront of his basketball career, as opposed to focusing on his NBA accomplishments (which is supposedly what the hall of fame is about).
When fans are allowed to vote, you can bet there's going to be a LOAD of bulls**t involved.
Closed AccountAug 13, 2010
Probably some stupid ass-backwards ignorant miserable low-life f**king retarded little prick who thinks he's somehow better than this man. Rodman is the best at what he does on the court, and he should be respected and awarded for his accomplishments, regardless of what you think of him personally.

The dude was a f**king rock star! Even without the good stats this man was the reason I watched basketball as a kid.

Dennis Rodman played basketball?
enoztenAug 13, 2010
He's 6'7, Barkley's 6'6. How the hell do these guys pull down so many boards?
And why the f**k can't Amare Stoudemire pull down even 9 boards per game!!?
salinemistAug 13, 2010
They weren't constantly afraid of breaking their inner princess. Rodman and Barkley also took it to the rim instead of lofting 12 foot jumpers.
mawrizAug 13, 2010
That's the 20 million dollar question.
nevermiss1Aug 13, 2010
No doubt about it!
midnightsnackAug 13, 2010
Yes, and I hope he wears a dress to the induction.
buyingthewarAug 13, 2010
I've always said D Rodman is worthy of the Basketball Hall of Fame.
c010rb1indusaAug 13, 2010
As crazy as he was, he was one of the best rebounders to ever play the game. That combined with all 5 championships should earn him a spot in the hall.
namesbondAug 13, 2010
Yes

mhf03Aug 13, 2010
Of course, Dennis Rodman deserves to be in the Basketball Hall of Fame, since his defensive abilities were inhuman. But, despite offense and defense being huge parts of the game defense is overlooked so a player with very limited offense like Steve Nash has a much better chance of getting into the HOF. And of course due to Rodman's rather controversial personal life the Hall of Fame would be hesitant to induct him.
dagreenmanAug 13, 2010
Why is there an issue over this? he may be weird, but he has had an amazing career and is more than worthy.
daleokAug 13, 2010
If there is a category in the Hall of Fame for cross-dressing, then sure, he should be inducted.
goatmonkey2112Aug 13, 2010
It's the "Hall of Fame". It's not the "Hall of People we Like for their Great Personalities who also Happen to Play Basketball".
johnnyblazepwAug 18, 2010
all the more reason to be in the hall.. he has multiple titles, multiple rebounding crowns, all defensive teams, all star teams etc. He did more than "just happen to play basketball"
westy17Aug 13, 2010
It's about how he performed on the basketball court. Not the silly s**t he has done off the court.
So YES, he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame
youngcebAug 13, 2010
forget the name, just look the fcking stats
soberkebapAug 13, 2010
Stupid article.
For people who have half a brain it is more interesting to debate whether Vince Carter will make the HOF. Historically his numbers would say he "deserves" to be in, but clearly it is not a straight forward case.
What about McGrady?
fordsvt1Aug 19, 2010
Vince Carter is a little bitch. He's a good player, but he's not a team player, and he doesn't play well enough with others to turn a mediocre team into a championship one. He'll always be the guy that "coulda".
