drwebzAug 3, 2010

tektrixterAug 3, 2010

sandeepxAug 3, 2010
Its just an ad
wikinerdAug 3, 2010
An ad for the hobby, yes. The link at the end directs you to the website documenting the discipline.

maybe if some of us lazy diggers tried it but to people who have been training in gymnastics for years, not so much
kinggorillaAug 4, 2010
turn on the jetpack!
manikfoxAug 3, 2010
I'll be the first to say it... this is stupid as f**k.
crazyeddie041Aug 3, 2010
I'll be the second to say it... this is stupid as f**k.
ChaplinpaAug 3, 2010
Agreed.
francishcAug 3, 2010
I think it's not quite as crazy as it looks. The guys did actually do the stunts, but they had safety ropes that were removed in post-production.

mrgulibleAug 3, 2010
Nothing makes a man feel lazier than watching people jump from building to building using nothing but their muscles and ladders while he sits on his ass and contemplates if he has the energy to get up and get another cup of Kool-Aid.
Thanks Digg.
tukaAug 3, 2010
Just to make you feel lazier, you could post some disparaging comments like "fake" or "bulls**t they're using ropes" or "i can do that s**t".
.... that is, if you've got the energy, i sure don't.

grantmoore3dAug 3, 2010
Why are we all of a sudden calling this "parkour"? Wasn't it called "free running" for quite some time?
originaljeevesAug 3, 2010
I pretty sure it was originally called "Parkour" which is french.
tektrixterAug 3, 2010
http://www.ehow.com/how_2122758_tell-between-parkour-free-running.html
sinembarg0Aug 3, 2010
Parkour is efficiency in movement, free running is doing stunts and crap. Apparently this isn't really either, since they have ladders, but it would be closer to free running. If you look up parkour chases on youtube, where they don't do any flips or anything, then that would be parkour. They're similar, but different.
apr400Aug 3, 2010
Parkour and free running are not quite the same thing. The first is about getting past obstacles as quickly and efficiently as possible, the second takes that and adds twirly acrobatics and stunts.
Wiki has parkour as coming first.
alanlivingstonAug 3, 2010
It's running away while avoiding obstacles in the most efficient manor. Running away? Of course it's french!
grantmoore3dAug 3, 2010
Thanks for the replies, I appreciate the answers instead of just being buried for asking a question.
eikaiAug 4, 2010
Free running is the english translation basically..
Everyone has decided to start speaking french.

wiirdoAug 3, 2010
Whoops! Splat!
wastelanderAug 3, 2010
Not even particularly athletic or challenging. Just risky and stupid.
leif777Aug 3, 2010
not athletic? I'd like to st you climb up a ladder up the side of a 30 story building as fast as they do without to lift it 30 times.
wastelanderAug 3, 2010
Compared to the amazing gymnastics I've seen demonstrated on other Parkour videos, I just don't see climbing a ladder quickly all that impressive.
treshnellAug 19, 2010
They're doing many of the same things as in those other videos...but with the added difficulty of having to carry around a ladder...
leithalauAug 3, 2010
wow i so wanted this to be 100% real, but then the guy started drinking V.
shifty2Aug 3, 2010
For someone not in/from New Zealand, is V any good?
leithalauAug 4, 2010
I guess V is alright? But I facepalmed because i realised it was an advertisement when i saw the V, indicating it isn't actually real (ropes).
moo2u2Aug 4, 2010
V's also sold in Australia - didn't realise it was only around this region of the world though...
Either way, I prefer Mother
loubrownAug 4, 2010
It tastes a bit like vag___.
dlan4327Aug 3, 2010
Fantastic ad but I don't think that's real. Imagine the negative publicity for V if something went wrong & one of them died. They wouldn't be willing to take that risk, has to be fake.
Still a brilliant commercial either way, though.
Closed AccountAug 12, 2010
Those people really do that stuff, holmes. They sign a waiver when they do the commercial, essentially they did what they do for fun but for money.
peteresplAug 3, 2010
One of the most dangerous sports I’ve seen in a long time, those guys must have tons of experience with climbing, parkour, to risk something like that. Usually even amazingly difficult stunts look easy on video (big wave surfing comes to mind), but this is just unbelievable. There really is no limit to human creativity, ingenuity and courage.
plopfishAug 3, 2010
I think most stunts are real but were edited to look more extreme. Meaning done with safety equipment and/or small height then edited much higher up onto a building etc. They certainly are athletic and talented but probably were never in such imminent risk of death. What company could really produce this with that much risk (and insurance costs)?
leif777Aug 3, 2010
I liked it up to the part where the guy was drinking the poweraid... f**king viral marketing
peteresplAug 3, 2010

"There really is no limit to human creativity, ingenuity and courage. This is first page material."
It's a freaking ad. Most of the stunts were made to look more dangerous than they really were, and there was certainly safety equipment in use at all times to prevent accidents.
ethyladdedAug 3, 2010
Peterepsl, thanks for the great testimonial and thanks for watching. On behalf of Frucor Beverages, maker of fine energy drinks and beverages, we would like to aware you TWELVE CASES of V ISOKINETIC :: HYDRATION WITH GUARANA ENERGY. If you would kindly follow up this comment with your private address and phone number we'll be happy to get those out to you.

f**k man, I submitted this last week!
miffelplixAug 3, 2010
If it's sponsored, how to know that it isn't faked?
bamboolemurAug 3, 2010
An ad?
rsm33Aug 3, 2010
Its an ad...
Thus most of what you are seeing is computer effects. Green screens etc.
kinggorillaAug 4, 2010
Not green screens just safety ropes. Still pretty cool imo

jeezoflipAug 3, 2010
This is probably one of the most dangerous things ever.
jasvllAug 3, 2010
Shouldn't this be under the sponsor heading? Next, someone will be posting the incredible stunt driving of the guys in the Ford truck commercials.
stikytAug 3, 2010
So does this mean that Link is into Parkour?
nosecohnAug 3, 2010
Leave it to the Kiwis to come up with an insane adrenaline rush like that. They'll climb up and jump off of anything down there!
jiggawattAug 3, 2010
It looks like a New Zealand ad by the link at the end. I like how something like this would be frowned upon in America, because you'd have a bunch of dumb people running out trying to copy it and getting injured, then suing the company who ran the ad. Even if it had an warnings and disclaimer at the beginning and the end. Natural selection would be in favor of this type of advertisement.
Closed AccountAug 12, 2010
People always copy but only in America do they sue.
kernel16Aug 3, 2010
If I see a surge of morons running around with ladders in the street, I'm tripping them.
wilc3685Aug 3, 2010
Buried for viral marketing.
hahanopantsAug 3, 2010
Not new though... We've been using them in the fire department forever, but we call them pompier ladders.
georgeclaytonAug 3, 2010
Crappy commercial with crappy music.
leif777Aug 3, 2010
So running the Iron Man is a piece of cake because they don't do back flips...?
mrnewbieAug 3, 2010

peteresplAug 3, 2010
Pomparkour its an imaginary sport created by a beverage company in New Zealand to advertise an energy drink. That being said, it’s a great ad and it fooled a fair share of people (myself included).
whogivesashitAug 4, 2010
It's like spam only in video form.
Buried.
