Wow. Digg is full of America haters.

Even though its hard to admit... it is very true. Despite our many faults, there is no other country like U.S.A. , and there never will be.

I think the only time I have ever experienced complete, no-strings-attached pride of being an American was when Shawn Johnson won gold against all those obviously 11 and 12 year olds on the balance beam. :) still gives me chills..Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Yeah, it's almost as good as when you beat the s**t out of 5th graders, I love that feeling!

You have to realize, for people in their 20s, we were too young to care about anything when Clinton was in office, so our entire national concept/identity was crafted by George W. Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Anyone else think this was just plain stupid?

I couldn't be more proud to be a citizen of a country where we know we can beat Russia at hockey.

americans put their flag on everything from underwear to doormats. i'd buy an american flag, too, but only if it came on toilet paper.

AMERICA! F**K YEA!
burrduggJul 3, 2010
The only pride left for Americans is waving a flag. Because everything else from the USA is utter suckage.
trashyamericanJul 3, 2010
if you look closely at american flags, it will say: made in china, designed in USA

I knew Mark Spitz was a budding Mussolini!
Is that a patriotic stripe, or are you just happy to see me?

(d) The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to fall free. Bunting of blue, white, and red, always arranged with the blue above, the white in the middle, and the red below, should be used for covering a speaker’s desk, draping the front of the platform, and for decoration in general.

There is a fantastic clip that ESPN frequently uses, of some second string Packer player from a few years ago, running out onto the field in slow-mo with a GIANT flag, granted, as a Packer fan I am biased, but it gives me the chills every time. I'm digging through youtube to try to find it. Post it if you know what I'm talking about. It is awesome.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

"Great Athletes Being Patriotic" - ok, but I'm not so sure about the Dream Team photo. If I recall correctly, there was a dust-up over the fact that the olympic team was sponsored by one of the shoe companies, and those warmup suits had that company's logo on it, but some of the players had endorsement contracts with another shoe company. So as a solution, those players covered up the shoe company logo on the warmup with the American flag. Commercialism disguised as Patriotism.
Also, why the heck did they leave Rick Monday off of the list?

I love our flag.
also props to the 1980 hockey team that beat the soviets. Miracle is a great movie.

weird, this country has such a bipolar, schizophrenic relationship with African Americans...
