I think it would be wonderful to have all children born healthy, be very intelligent and have all the abilities we have ever dreamed of for our children. But that's not the natural way of things. And, I think fooling with mother nature would be very detrimental.

The next 30 years will be more significant than the rest of human existence. We have to ask these questions in preparation, but in the end they will be completely pointless. Just like all of the other social issues the social conservatives latch onto.

It still depends on the pool of genetics. If you get two poor candidates even modification will produce some defective offspring. The extreme of this is in future generations we'll have a bunch of disease prone Stephen Hawkings rolling around.
