It is hard to go back to normal after fight. Many have problems and US need to find a way to help these soldiers who fought for the country. They are lucky to be alive.
hipmanSep 5, 2010
I'm guessing English isn't your first language?.

Who give a s**t what his first language is dips**t!
What an idiot.
charlescheeseSep 6, 2010
They're not lucky to be alive. They are alive because of their skill, equipment, training, and bravery. Luck had very little to do with it.
blindfire202Sep 6, 2010
luck involving the grand risk of random IED's ,and car bombs... avoiding THOSE dont need skill but a wee bit of luck at least.

imbecile.
pschkqitzsoughSep 6, 2010
You have obviously never met anyone who has came back from war... Many of them can't believe they made it out alive, and I've met a few who would be dead if it weren't for a mortar or RPG that hit near by, but was a dud. Luck has a lot to do with where bullets, mortars, and rocket fire lands in proximity to a person. I don't care what skills you have a mortar lands 10' away and your in trouble no matter how much you trained or how much you can bench.
bagos1Sep 7, 2010
Talk to anybody that's been in battle....and one common thing they say was how lucky they were to get out alive or unhurt.
starmanjonesSep 7, 2010
PTSD is the result of not being able to apply your training, equipment and bravery. its the lack of control. the randomness of the attacks and the inability to go after the person that just killed your buddy.
absolutelytrueSep 5, 2010
I can't even imagine what these brave men and women are going through. I hope our government is doing the decent thing and taking care of them well.
mrdeadheadSep 6, 2010
well, they aren't, so feel free to donate to services to aid them.
clapsfranciscoSep 6, 2010
I know a couple of ex-marines, all of them claim to have ptsd (post traumatic stress disorder) so that the can have more government $ for weed.
shortdudeicpSep 6, 2010
hey now, they prolly do have it, so dont be quick to judge...and hey the weed is better then any pill they can give you hands down
onefreespiritSep 6, 2010
I did not read any judgments in clapsfrancisco's post, only alledged facts.
ithardinSep 6, 2010
This is one area where I think we can find some consensus regardless of political affiliations...our returning soldiers deserve proper medical diagnosis and care. I watched "Brothers" over the weekend and it ripped my heart out. I know it was a fictional account, but reading the stories of the depression and other mental problems returning soldiers face makes my heart ache for them. We must make sure we don't slack on them.

Don't worry, most of them are heading towards Afghan. Oh wait........

ISn't this what supposed to happen, after participating in an illegal, immoral mercenary war? Boohoo boohoo Iraq war vet's are feeling unhappy. Ya I would do if I had anything to do with murdering innocent civilians for a couple wealthy families of my home country. I feel more for the countless kids who've seen there parents killed in front of them by f**king mercenaries.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

gfeldman1980Sep 6, 2010
I'm getting bored with all these comments complaining about the new Digg, but yours was well placed and funny. Well done. Dugg for that.
mrdeadheadSep 6, 2010
new enemy? PTSD isn't new, it's been recognized for a while. if only the government would take better care of their Vets maybe it wouldn't be such a huge problem.
hipmanSep 6, 2010
Maybe, but aren't they supposed to be trained for this stuff?.
rcalberySep 6, 2010
I think new was used as in it's new to these soldiers. Not new to date.
m0lluskSep 6, 2010
Cannabis and Ecstasy help with PTSD. It is time to legalize these drugs so our veterans can get the help they need without hassling with police and lawyers.
laptopsandpartSep 6, 2010
The risk to be soldier is ready to sacrifice anytime for the sake of country. Hero forever
steezyjesusSep 6, 2010
Im glad to see the military stepping up it's response on this issue as PTSD is a horrible affliction. One of the newest breakthroughs in treatment that the military has been using has been getting great results as of late. They call it Virtual Therapy. The create a virtual version of the traumatic situation and with a therapist's assistance they are able to re-live the event in hopes to make new, non traumatic memories of the event. I'll post a link to a great video on the new technique.

A dude who had a badly untreated case of post-traumatic stress disorder flipped a s**t when someone dropped a can of soup on the ground and it rolled towards him while he was grocery shopping... apparently he thought it was a grenade??? I dont even wanna know what kind of s**t you have to go through to have that go through your mind first in a grocery store....
cawpinSep 6, 2010
"I dont even wanna know what kind of s**t you have to go through"
Um, probably having a grenade thrown at you would do it.

Thousands Of Returning Soldiers Face A New Enemy: YEA that they have been REPLACED by a H-1B/L1 Visa Job thief from the UK or India.

If we signed on or not to the Bush "Glory" War. Our Men and Women did their job, and for most with honor.
Now it is time for us to step up and fulfill our part of the bargain. Honor demands it.

After my Marine brother finished his first tour in Afghanistan, he began immersing himself in alcohol. I remember receiving a drunken call from my brother telling me that the memories won't go away, and he told me what he did, and what he saw. I wanted to help him. So I just listened to him tell these horrifying stories of death.
He's going to be deployed to Afghanistan in January.
weebitSep 7, 2010
Just be there to listen to him. You are doing the right thing. Kudos to ya.

I think our politicians should give up there insurance and give it to all our servicemen. How's that?

""The main differences are that individuals with traumatic brain injuries also will have neurologic symptoms such as headache, light sensitivity, dizziness and will have difficulty, many times, with balance," O’Shanick says."
Memory too...?
weebitSep 7, 2010
They are twice as likely to divorce, and to end up homeless also. Many areas in the USA have no special place for these vets to go. What a waste. A good majority are capable of responding to treatment, and getting their life back at home. Unfortunately they end up self medicating with alcohol and drugs. The economy escalates their problems.
completnonsenseSep 9, 2010
I was against so much of this fighting, not the soldiers but the idiots making the decisions who they themselves didnt have the balls to ever fight.
I hope you soldiers get taken care of and I thank you for doing what I could not. Thanks
1966zeusSep 14, 2010
You are so right, nothing but war games after the oil.
completnonsenseSep 9, 2010
What makes me the most mad about a lot of this and the army is that our army bills themselves as a volunteer army. Volunteer my ass, digg is something that is voluntary, I can volunteer to post or I can quit. Can one of you soldiers voluntary leave? Can you voluntary decide oh I dont want to go to Afghanistan this time. ABSOLUTELY NOT, because its not truly a volunteer army and they shouldnt be able to act like they are on.
I think our nation should take a very critical look not only at the ridiculous wars fought over the last few decades but how and why they recruit the way they do.
