All water's been recycled, it's just a matter of how long it's been sitting around between uses.

People don't get that no new water has been created since the explosion of the Hindenburg.

Hey, as long as it's still two hydrogen atoms bound to an oxygen atom, it's alright by me. Besides, all of the water you drink has been reused countless times anyway - for all you know, the next glass you drink could be pure dinosaur piss.

In a heart beat bring it on ! and the ick factor solution is easy. I just DON'T TELL THEM (the rest of the family)

In many areas its already a fact of life. My county for instance has one major river that runs through it. Most of the sizable cities lie on this waterway and have their reservoir/wells on the upstream side of the city on this waterway and their sewage plants on the downstream side of that same waterway. Their residents seem to revel in the belief that their getting the "clean" water and flushing their wastewater downstream to the next unfortunate city, either unaware or ignoring the fact that there is a half dozen or more cities upstream doing the exact same thing.

About time - bring it on now!

Tough sell? Get over it. If you build unsustainably in a desert, then be happy you have any water at all.

When I read that Amarillo was pondering putting wastewater, after it is filtered, into our drinking water, I remembered reading where a different city ran its wastewater into grassland, which in turn fed a lake.

They just need the right ad campaign. "Water good enough for an Astronaut!"

I just bought a nifty new water bottle filtering system after reading this, hopefully it works... Thanks! http://forexrc.com/

agree. I have a lot of friends who save rain water - I'm amazed to find out that it's illegal in some parts of this country.

Its a question of how good your filters are or how kinky you are.
norman619Feb 1, 2012
filers? You really think you turn waste water into clean safe drinking water by filtering it?
StrongerThanCancerFeb 1, 2012
Kind of gross, and kind of exciting at the same time :)
norman619Feb 1, 2012
How is clean drinking water gross? how old are you? 6?

I guess you missed the part in the article that said it might be a tough sell. I happen to like the idea, but as a cancer survivor, I'm also pretty sensitive to what I am willing to put IN my body. I'd want to see it in action, see what checks and testing they do to make sure contaminants are not getting through...
I love progress, but I think some ideas are pushed forward too quickly. I'm not saying this is one of them, but in the case of certain drugs, gmos (which aren't labeled, and untested on humans), and body scanners at airports (again, installed without adequate testing)... it's all being forced on us whether we like it or not.
But you make a good point - asking if I am 6 really supports your argument with solid facts, I'm convinced now.

There are different ways this can be used - it would be great to be able to reuse the treated water that is dumped into the ocean only to be sucked back out and desalinated. Skipping the dumping, sucking, and the desalination will save tremendous amounts of energy. Check out this video if you are interested (good for the kids as well). It is called "Cycle of Insanity" if the link does not work.

Congrats on beating cancer BTW!

I agree. I have a lot of friends who save rain water - I'm amazed to find out that it's illegal in some parts of this country. It seems like collectively we can solve this.
Thanks for the link - looks great!!

I live near one of the great lakes and always wanted to know how the dumping, sucking, and the desalination process worked.
Thanks for sharing the video!
