To quote a movie: "I’s only on the brink that people find the will to change. Only at the precipice do we evolve."
The only problem here is that we may have already crossed the tipping point, and our planet may be on a warming system that feeds itself far beyond the warming that has already taken place. The white snow that covers the polar ice caps is highly reflective, radiating photons back into space. If the greenhouse gasses we are pumping into the atmosphere at alarming rates (particularly CO2) cause the caps to melt, sunlight will be absorbed, creating even more warming on a massive scale.

Great quote. Sadly, I fear it is correct. Problem is that this is one precipice that a lot of life may find they can't turn back from once reached.

This article is very important but too long to be read online. Most people won't notice as long as the articles about that will be as huge.

Too long for kids maybe, but I read it all as have several of my friends. Not everyone has ADD.

i thought we were done with the whole "Man-made global warming/climate change (or whatever they are calling it nowadays" thing... i am a meteorologist and work extensively with climate data. The earth warms and cools not because of the tiny people that are on it, but because of the giant ball of fire in the sky! Was it our damned factories and cars that caused the Holocene Maximum?

So instead of complaining on Digg and everywhere else, "What will you do?" All of you? One step. What have you done? What will you do?
I don't own a car.
