I had this 2 years ago, it was f**king awful. It just hit me out of the blue at night. Really really bad stomach cramps and the need to puke and s**t at the same time. Knowing it was something really bad I got worried as I'm diabetic and had no clue how I should deal with it. Rang NHS Direct, advised me as I'm not eating and that I still need to take insulin, just take a few units to keep my sugars level. But keep them a bit high so I don't hypo and drink as much as I was able. But the worrying thing was my ketone's where through the roof, around 16. If you use ketone strips that's like the darkest it can be. Luckily I eventually got them under control and didn't need to go to hospital. I slept 20 hours that day.

Just dealt with this about a month ago. Horrible, horrible stuff. The worst part is knowing there's nothing you can do but to ride it out and try to keep hydrated.

I got this during winter break in 2003. I truly thought I was going to die. I had liquid coming out at both ends so much when I took a shower, I couldn't make it to the toilet less than a foot away. It was the first time I shat on myself and did it standing! I had no health care and was scared to go to the hospital due to the bill. I went to the school nurse and she begged me to go to the hospital but I felt better by the time I decided to go. It was my worst time in college I ever had. I met my current girlfriend who took care of me during this time years ago, it is amazing that she did when I knew her for two days prior to me getting sick.
