Thought this was an Onion article...don't know whether to be happy for humanity or disappointed that I didn't get to chuckle for 2 minutes while I read the article.

Now this is thinking outside of the box, I hope this treatment is administered to more patients, the two mentioned in the article are now cancer free so that's a step towards the right direction.

They will sooner let people use modified HIV to fight cancer instead of something that is proven save (never killed anyone even from overdose) and effective like marijuana?
you know why? Cause you can patent one (make $$$) and not the other
starmanjonesSep 15, 2011
no. its because no matter what you do marijuana isn't going to achieve a cure rate that a direct genetic intervention will. i'm not against medical marijuana but that is just the way it is. also... this method when perfected will deliver the genetic fixes that will cure aging as well as nearly anything else that goes wrong.
goweigusSep 15, 2011
People haven't been getting concentrated does enough to cure them mostly. Look up Rick Simpson, I don't believe everything he claims... But there is plenty of research to back it up*
*that cannabinoids can actively kill many cancers, without harming healthy cells (even been used to save children from inoperable tumors, thats been on the news a couple times lately)
So to me it makes sense that if people build their tolerance so they can take more without feeling it, they can wipe out more cancer than they could if they only used enough to not get 'high'
But of course its so illegal that nobody can test for this, the system is afraid of how useful cannabis is
starmanjonesSep 16, 2011
i think thats ok... i do. but from a strictly technical point of view... HIV is programmed to infect T cells... infecting them with genetics that hunt down specific cancer cells is going to beat bathing cancer cells in something that kills them. the degree of accuracy on the target is magnitudes.

It sounds like the modified HIV is used to reprogram the immune system. Sounds like Frankenstein medicine but I can see how it works.
