The Flat Earth deniers will be here in 3...2...
arpadJan 11, 2011
"A more hopeful outlook for Himalayan glaciers"?
Now that is funny. Not a word about how the IPCC including in it's report as a scientifically-valid finding the erroneous quotation by a sloppy reporter that those Himalayan glaciers were going to be gone by 2035.
I guess if it's inconvenient it never happened.
novenatorJan 11, 2011
Maybe if we burn up all the world's oil first it won't happen until 2200 (there are larger supplies of coal after all)
chefgroovyJan 11, 2011
The earth makes oil faster than we can burn it. We'll never run out
novenatorJan 11, 2011
Whaaaat? Are you serious?
delphium226Jan 13, 2011
You be an ugly troll.
jakehoptJan 11, 2011
And none of us will be around to see it! Quick everyone panic and blame global warming or something. Pfft
ultramagnus0001Jan 11, 2011
Don't care about kids, you probably don't have any.

Glaciers melt at the end of ice ages, we're still in an ice age.
norman619Jan 11, 2011
Shhhh! How dare you share the truth?! You are supposed to spread ignorance damn it!
delphium226Jan 11, 2011
Yes, he's a scientist! Listen to him!
Lol
ultramagnus0001Jan 11, 2011
source?
jarasmenJan 11, 2011
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice_age "by this definition we are still in the ice age that began at the start of the Pleistocene (because the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets still exist)."
cloudberriesJan 11, 2011
Well, you're half right
We are technically in an ice age, but inside an interglacial - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interglacial
This certainly isn't the "end of an ice age". I don't know where you got that bollocks from
mathJan 12, 2011
No, its not an ice age, its the volcanoes doing this!
Or wait wasn't it the cosmic rays?
Or the increased cloud cover?
Wait, another blog I read the other day told me it was aliens and their agreement with Hitler that is causing global warming? (seriously: one of these "Digg Patriots" and climate "skeptics" directed me to this blog)
Really c'mon, give up on your screwball theories that you read on some random blog.

I'd like to make a prediction.
At some point in the future the globe will be cooler than it is today then later it will warm up.
ultramagnus0001Jan 11, 2011
Looking at the patterns from the ice cores, it's a little warmer than than it ever was in the patterns. I don't know, this science stuff seems to have figured out a lot. We now know s**t falls because of gravity and we can fly without using magic.

norman619Jan 11, 2011
Bulls**t. It's been warmer than it is today. The vikings were able to farm land which is now frozen. Well known fact to anyone who has bothered to look for the truth.
fauozJan 11, 2011
TG we will finally get rid of all that snow so I can grow a garden.
norman619Jan 11, 2011
Kinda like how the Nordic people did before all that damn ice ruined everything.

Small glaciers, not large glaciers?
entroperJan 11, 2011
Large glaciers take longer to melt than small ones.
norman619Jan 11, 2011
You don't say!

No wonder there's flood everywhere nowadays.

The good news is that they weren't always there
crimsonengageJan 11, 2011
Why do we care? We aren't going to live long enough to see the year 2100.
chefgroovyJan 11, 2011
exactly. it will happen slow. People will move further inland to won't get flooded. It's happened before. There are dozens of ancient ruins under hundreds of feet of water.
It's just the way the world works. Folks who think we caused it or can do anything about it are just wasting resources and effort.

We're all going to die, (after my children will die.) Tax me more! It must be true it was on treehugger.com!
sesqJan 11, 2011
Yeah... but I would blame the priests of the Temples of Syrinx. Then, 12 years later, the elder race of man will return to Earth and resume control. And life will be good again....
karmashockJan 11, 2011
How many of their predictions have failed to occur so far? I've lost count.
This whole thing is becoming chicken little meets the boy that cried wolf.
I'm not saying they're wrong... I'm just saying their rate of accuracy is so low at this point that it's hard to know what to take seriously.
Let me put this in context. The "Old Farmers almanac" has an 80 percent rate of accuracy in predicting climate conditions. The people with PhD's and satellites are batting about 50 percent. It's pretty sad when you're schooled by 17th century weather tables.
