I am intrigued to know if you find the idea human cyborgs more, or less preferable to the idea of our research around synthetic humans?
delphium226Nov 30, 2010
By 'synthetic humans' do you mean humans whose genes have been selected to exclude common medical conditions and include benficial physical and mental attributes?
GeminiSomaticsNov 30, 2010
Indeed. The process of Synthetic Somatology allows us to filter out any defects and weaknesses to create a variety of artificial genomes - non identical to any donor. Of course there is so much more to this process, which you can read more about in this document if you are interested: http://scr.bi/fYZhm0
We are investing in the future of humanity, to better enable us to survive in the harsh realities that will inevitably become our reality in the future. We as a race will need to adapt to survive, and we believe Synthetic Somatology will be the answer.
Of course this doesn't rule out research in alternative areas such as the one this article covers. Every effort should be made to advance science and technology.

Like in the movie Gattaca?

Similar in some ways, say in terms of selecting the strongest genetic material, but synthetic somatology in simple terms also includes imprinting a set of existing memories into the synthetic human.

The human body is a frail, short-lived, DNA-damaged, broken-down excuse of an organism, with arguably the most advanced brain on the planet (in some cases). Yet the body double crosses the brain by stripping it of an essential vehicle far in advance of reaching the brain's full potential. If humankind doesn't improve it, nobody will.

Well said.
