You know you're getting jaded when 5,878,625,373,184 miles is considered "only".
:)
macbookformeJul 4, 2010
Dugg for that 1st planetary contact...500 million light years away...R2D2 will meet them for sure...one day
vklebanJul 5, 2010
500 light years - no millions
biofriendlyblogJul 4, 2010
Awwww.....and it's just a baby too, at only a few million years old! ;)
diceauJul 5, 2010
It's so cute!!! Look at its little flares! :)
protodonJul 4, 2010
I hate when they say: located just 'insert nontranversable distance here ' I mean really.
evilregisJul 4, 2010
Like this 4.5-billion-year-old planet is bother communicating with a planet only a few million years old COME ON!
muffinmonkJul 4, 2010
We need to find a way to distort space-time to create a sort of portal or warp, or do something like Farnsworth, where the engines of a spaceship doesn't move, the rest of the universe does. NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE AS LONG AS YOU CAN IMAGINE IT!
neutron7Jul 4, 2010
I am pretty sure that it is impossible for 2 bricks to mate and have baby bricks.
pauliusuzaJul 4, 2010
bravo!
ghostof2010Jul 4, 2010Submitter
Unless they were in Schrödinger's box
kkm3Jul 5, 2010
I'm sure nano-bots can make that possible :)
Closed AccountJul 5, 2010
well, neutron7, that's b/c you lack imagination.
hotleperJul 4, 2010
Nothing is impossible as long as there is solid math behind it... physics will follow.
volathJul 5, 2010
"NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE AS LONG AS YOU CAN IMAGINE IT!"
The definition you are looking for is magic.
jqp123Jul 5, 2010
It's hard to imagine how toying with chemical rockets will help us get there.
To really explore the universe, we need more scientists, not more astronauts.
kanockJul 4, 2010
Hopefully the discovery of extraterrestrial life will lead to the end of religion. Hopefully it'll be soon.
vsujohn2Jul 5, 2010
Unless we discover that alien life "got it right" when it comes to religion and we must accept their god or perish.
denizen42Jul 5, 2010
The end of corruption would be a much wiser wish.
crunchydeluxeJul 5, 2010
The end of self-important atheist blowhards would be better. Live and let live.
frecklefootJul 5, 2010
I don't know why the discovery of extraterrestrial life would "lead to the end of religion." Some religions--even Christian--would welcome it.
diceauJul 5, 2010
That won't help.
vklebanJul 5, 2010
It might disprove certain religious beliefs, but the only way aliens could help us disprove main religious artifacts (God, immortal soul) is by using their super-advanced science to fully explain the universe's physical nature.
crunchydeluxeJul 6, 2010
And it's entirely possible that their super-advanced science has indeed confirmed that the physical nature of the universe is of God's creation.
60mmJul 5, 2010
Face it man, religion already is already beyond ridiculous. Nothing science could ever figure out or discover will convince some people. Nothing. Someday we're going to come into contact with some race billions of years old that can project their spirits across the universe with ease and even they will somehow have religitards.
youcandobetterJul 5, 2010
So... Spirits = OK, gods = idiotic? Sounds strange, mate
crunchydeluxeJul 5, 2010
Why the hell is youcandobetter being buried? Is it because "spiritualism" is the acceptable new-age fad, yet having traditional religious beliefs (which are SPIRITUAL in nature) is simply unacceptable?Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
eikaiJul 5, 2010
Pretty sure he used the word 'spirit' just to exaggerate the idea of an advanced intelligent civilisation having the capability to travel across the universe in a way in which would not be perceived to be possible by humans today.
crunchydeluxeJul 5, 2010
Of course.
tomgfromcanadaJul 5, 2010
we found tatooine
bradleyyeeJul 5, 2010
satin!!
ragatronJul 5, 2010
Satin...?
I like silky sheets as much as the next person, but please try not to get off topic.
mightycJul 5, 2010
Wow.
60mmJul 5, 2010
Probably because he was missing my point. I wasn't advocating spirits are real, nor do I believe in them myself. I just made up some "super-whacky-beyond-belief" stuff. The point was that religion will never die.
jordanmcJul 5, 2010
So what should we name it?
