greenbiz.com — The software maker also shrank its carbon footprint by improving the energy efficiency of its buildings and data centers, but an uptick in business growth means SAP is keeping a wary eye on its business travel.

As far as we've come technology-wise, one would think excessive travel would no longer be required.
janincoAug 9, 2010
True, but some things you just must see in person!

When locations have to be audited you have to physically travel there. When you're looking to make a purchase of certain types of goods you have to travel to location.

50%? Way to go SAP!
baja01Aug 10, 2010
Too bad SAP is still a horrific program to use.

They all are.
SAP = Stop All Production
My Company uses CMiC
CMiC = Crap Made in Canada
Good for SAP though. 50% is a big deal for a company that large.

I think the title was pretty straightforward, so why are you here then?
aetherboyAug 10, 2010
I guess I'll ask the question...
WHY THE HELL IS THIS ON DIGG?
Seriously, this looks like a PR digg push. This does not belong here.

One small flaw in the article. They call SAP a software maker. They don't make software, they buy good software companies and drive them into the ground.

What did i learn from SAP? I learned that just because you computerize something doesn't make it better, or faster, or more efficient.
SAP turned a 90 minute job into a 150 minute job.
Most worthless piece of methane laced s**t software I ever had to work with. My last day on the job I wasn't worried about my future or how I was gonna pay my rent. I was relieved, and elated that I didn't have to deal with SAP anymore. And at all my job interviews I was very specific about software.
May all the people at SAP get their justly deserved punishment in the next life. Hopefully some office in Hell where they have to dig down through 3 menu's to change a status and then use 4 clicks to back up and change another status and then go to a different field to explain why they changed the status and yet another field to list the cross references that also had to be used.
And if I end up going to Hell I'm putting in for the job of their manager! HAHAHAHA!

In a better economy I would seriously make SAP and Lotus Notes deal-breakers on weather I'd take on a job or not.
It was bad enough when I only had to support people unlucky enough to use them... now I both use them both and support other people. At least it makes me more sympathetic... right?

Shame they can not increase their software non sucking level above 0.2
zomgondoAug 10, 2010
SAP software sucks because it is part of the socialist liberal anthropomorphic global warming conspiracy.

Buried for "carbon footprint".
