washingtontimes.com — Researchers have long known that the Internet has contributed to pornography addiction by making it so easily accessible. But that ease of access also has leveled the playing field between the sexes.

I'm glad this schmuck got banned for being so disrespectful. If you disagree with someone then say so. If you think someone's an idiot then say so. Writing a sexist rant that presents the illusion that you have known a woman's warmth not only makes you look petty but also makes it painfully obvious that you're less literate than the people who write into Hustler every month.
Don't get me wrong, I disagree with TPS on a lot but she deserves better than that.

I say insults are insults, who cares. Douchebag, d**kh**d, idiot, sh*t-for-brains, those are practically greetings on the Internet. But reading that rant actually made me sick to my stomach in a way that I've only felt a few times in my life. I won't go into detail on what those other things were except to say that NoLibs is not in good company. I've found the dude annoying in the past but this was sick in a way that I, shady bastard that I am, find absolutely disgusting.

NoLibs not only scraped the bottom of the barrel, he punched through it and found a bunch of slime and mildew underneath it, then tossed the barrel aside and proceeded to make sweet love to the slime and mildew with his pathetic member that was all flaccid because the only way he can get it up is to act out his rape fantasies in a web forum.

@ThePartyStar: I gotta disagree with you about Dilberto. There is no way in hell he could be related to No_____. In the time I've seen him online, he's been nothing but polite to people, at most he gets a sarcastic edge in some of his posts. If he were this s**t-for-brains behind those amazingly disgusting posts, it would have come out in some form or another in his Dilberto posts.
And for the record, I would have no problem digging down a friend here if they made an unjustified attack on someone. Just because we are friends, doesn't mean I will give anyone a pass on being an ass. (And no, that's not directed at anyone here.)
avengingturnipJul 15, 2010
Dilberto showed up about the same time that Liberatio2012 disappeared and Libertario2012 seemed obviously to be a notroll clone. Regardless of who he is his behavior is markedly different and we aren't prisoners in Stalag17 trying to figure out who the mole is anyway. (Here I merely make the case that certain cultures tend to engage in practices that increase the risk for HIV. The entire time I state that behavior is changeable and that behavior is the primary factor of HIV/AIDS, not money. Yes I was polite throughout the discussion while pintomp3 was trying to stir the pot and take the focus off of behavior.)
VBullinger,
I should probably tone certain comments, but by no means do I attack or incite hatred. The first comment I admit probably wasn't necessary, and the second one could have been phrased better.
And you are right in the fact that people will read into what I saw what they want to get out of it. Most of the diggerals (Pintomp3, NoLibs, BasalCellBossk, etc) are probably somewhat math-challenged and aren't interested in facts anyway, so calling out a cultural problem probably isn't going to help anything here.
I don't hate Black people vbullinger. I despise the mainstream Black culture and its degrading effect. In other words, the Ghetto. You can also see a comment where I tear into White Trash in the same way, but again on Digg people like to yell "racist".

Doesn't this speak to how incredibly sad he is, though? I mean, what is he doing with his life? Is he seriously on the government dole or something? I mean, I say that in jest, like he's a cointelpro agent or something, but I mean... what else would make him do that? Do you think he's some depressed 30-year old living in his mom's basement with severe mental issues and maybe something like asperger's or something?
He's not incredibly dumb or anything, since he's finding a way to not get banned, but... read a book or something, man! Do something more constructive with your time. Here are some suggestions of things that are more constructive than what he's doing:
Moving out of your mom's basement

Doing the laundry for once
Sorting your anime collection
Watching paint dry
Pissing yourself
Jamming forks in your eyes
I could do this all day.

So your choice of reading material can lead to rape? I call bulls**t on it unti proven otherwise. Unless all the victims were readong porn in dark alleys or something.
andrewjcJul 13, 2010
Ugh, this is yet more perpetuation of the idea that guys who watch porn are more likely to be criminals. The problem is: ALL GUYS WATCH PORN. Statistically speaking, that is.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/relationships/6709646/All-men-watch-porn-scientists-find.html
'“We started our research seeking men in their 20s who had never consumed pornography,” said Professor Simon Louis Lajeunesse. “We couldn't find any.”'
So realistically speaking, if all men watch porn, and not all men are criminals, then there's no logical way that you can blame porn for crime. The men who commit crimes would still do so, and the men who don't still wouldn't.
Is porn objectification of women? Perhaps. But just like Dungeons & Dragons, people who watch porn most often realize that it's a FANTASY situation and that it isn't how you're REALLY supposed to treat a lady.
rwhittak3Jul 13, 2010
I had actually copied that same bit into my buffer so I could paste then bitch about it. You beat me to it. Sounds like total bulls**t to me. How can "watching porn" make women more susceptible to rape? Wtf?
bryceman111Jul 13, 2010
Hey HEY HEY now! It's not rape, it's just surprise sex.
nyxerebosJul 13, 2010
>>How can "watching porn" make women more susceptible to rape?
It can't, but it's traditional to pathologize female sexual desire. In the traditional view females can't enjoy sexual desire for themselves and on their own terms and still be happy, healthy members of society. Notice how the author makes the distinction between women who enjoy porn and 'good girls'. It's an argument from some Judeo/Christian moral system, porn is a bad thing *if* you believe that sex is for making more Christians, and that it's something men do to women, not something women can legitimately want for themselves.
meribianJul 13, 2010
It COULD hold validity if you beat off to real and violent rape videos....or maybe those Japanese "pretend rape" videos. Of course, if you felt the urge to look that up for any reason other than morbid curiosity, you would probably have ended up raping somebody with or without seeing it. I don't see how people can fap to that, though.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
honukaiJul 13, 2010
Most rapes do not occur in dark allies and are perpetrated by people the victim already knows. All that aside, I really have no clue how porn = rape. Quite the opposite really..after spending some time browsing porn, I'm not that horny anymore.
jfreemanJul 13, 2010
No s**t. The rise in pornography has correlated with a decline in violent sex crimes.
stormtrooprJul 15, 2010
Meribian, that could make some sense for males but how would that increase the chance of a woman being raped, unless she was actually looking for it, at which point it isn't rape.
rkthoadanJul 13, 2010
Much like alcohol, it's fine in moderation, but can cause problems if it consumes your life. First off, the title "More women lured to pornography addiction" smacks of how the woman is again the victim even though nobody's pumping porn into them...they have to look for it to become addicted. The insane bias has began and the article hasn't even started yet!
"The more pornography women use, the more likely they are to be victims of non-consensual sex," said Mary Anne Layden, professor of sociology and women's studies at Wheelock College in Boston. "The earlier the male starts using pornography, the more likely they are to be the perpetrators of non-consensual sex."
Wait a damn minute here! This is the SAME addiction they're talking about; but suddenly a woman is raped (the professor may say "non-consensual", but that's "rape" by the very definition) because of it and the man is all of a sudden a criminal even though they BOTH went looking for sex! That is hypocrisy and utter bulls**t.
"Pornographic material, under the Constitution, can be put into two categories: soft-core and hard-core. Hard-core pornography is prosecutable under the law. Organizations like EIE are fighting to save children, teens, and parents from porn addiction by trying to get it off the Internet, Ms. Hughes said."
That is just plain incorrect spouting of crap. Under the Constitution porn is broken into zero parts as it is all covered under the First Amendment. The only definitions that stand in the way are the obscenity laws which are usually state-mandated (there are a few Federal ones), but it is the State which will decide if a person's predilections are obscene or not. The following forms of porn are almost always excluded from First Amendment protection: child porn, bestiality, and forced. Other than that, pretty much any fetish you might have is fair-game. So for Ms. Hughes to say what she does is an outright lie. This is all to show that EIE is nothing more than an organization dedicated to censorship and the continual erosion of the rights of others.
rangertoughJul 13, 2010
I agree - the claim that using pornography makes women MORE LIKELY to be victims of non-consensual sex is insane. What about actively pursuing sexuality and being aware of the many forms of sexuality makes a woman have less control over her sex life? Wouldn't it most likely be the opposite?
Also, love how patronizing the quoted sources are - growing pornography addiction is a result of women becoming "more intelligent" with computers. Were we idiots? Do women today not grow up with computers just as men do? It really had to be dumbed down to "clicking a few buttons" (does he mean links?) for women to be able to access porn?
akutacoJul 13, 2010
I can see how they made that assertion, based on what they were talking about as far as relating sex to relationships versus relating sex to objects. And I could even see this being a problem for young, inexperienced women who don't really understand sex as much more than fap material yet.
But those young women would probably be just as likely to have non-consensual sex in any case...
As far as the computer stuff goes... I'm not sure of the tone the writer was trying to bring forth. It was obviously Christian overall, but it was like they were throwing around feminine victimization for the anti-man crowd and then making chicks look dumb for the anti-woman crowd. "Well, a little something for everyone!"

The problem is that we can handle sexuality when it is in a controlled environment. Britney Spears and the ilk ("Oh, she's on stage, she gets paid to do that."). What we can't handle is when a woman acts out sexually for no apparent reason, like Girls Gone Wild ("She got naked on camera.....for a stupid T-shirt?!")
Remember when they found those pictures of the recent Miss America on the stripper pole and everyone made a big deal about it?
Girl thinks: How am I going to compete with that?
Guy thinks: This girl is stripping for no reason, why can't I get laid??
The problem isn't girls looking at porn, it's how knowing that fact makes people feel about themselves.

"The problem isn't girls looking at porn, it's how knowing that fact makes people feel about themselves."
Neither of these seem like a problem to me. The problem is that people still have some ass-backwards puritanical views of sex as sinful and the naked human body as obscene. The dissonance people experience getting over that may be unpleasant, but necessary growing pains if society is to progress.

Really you can look at porn for a hour a day and I doubt it is harmful. Just because you look at porn once or twice a day does not mean it is addiction. Now if you stop going to work or rather watch porn than meet your friends then it is an addiction.

Still not addiction. Pathological compulsion maybe, but the word 'addiction' means something specific, no matter how much it's misused. Crackheads are crack addicts, but fat people are not 'food addicts'.
hokie47Jul 13, 2010
You can have an addiction to porn. Yes it is not a chemical addiction like crack but it is a mental addiction. Also your body produces chemicals during sex/porn so it is still like a chemical addiction in a way. Sex feels good so your body wants more. To some people this drive will cause them to forget about everything else in life to find sex. This is classic definition of addiction.
ebbvJul 13, 2010
It's not a f**king addiction and to call it one belittles real, physical addictions that involve chemical dependencies.

flip2trip is right....while mental illness diagnoses are more prevalent than ever and seem to be an excuse for everything, there are diseases such as Schizophrenia which iare serious and life changing and has everything to do with brain chemistry. Mostly occurring in males with an onset around 21 y/o, my neighbor was a normal kid growing up but then at 20 y/o he was carried away on a gurney after pushing his mother down a flight of stairs and trying to bash his father's head in because he thought they were demons...schizophrenia diagnosis followed, no he was not on drugs at the time of the incident.

"Psychology is a total waste of time. It is an area of 'study' that exists because of a large group of people who didnt understand physics, chemistry and biology but wanted to be scientists. They argue that psychology is in fact more complicated that physics, what with the human brain being so complex and difficult to get at without being arrested. This is a good argument, because it justifys them getting their vast grants without the need for any actual results. The work they do is then published in one of many journals which, of course are run by psychologists. The journals are sold to colleges so that their psychology departments can read them. Thus it continues... Efficient, brilliant and simple. A totally self-perpetuating waste of college funds." - (cynicalbastards.com)
skulldumpJul 13, 2010
ebbv...I suggest you revise your interpretation of what an addiction is...chemical addictions aren't the only form of addiction. People addicted to gambling disprove that theory.
wavengerJul 13, 2010
While people certainly can be addicted to gambling, video games, the internet, or porn, I think the statement that "Pornography is more addictive than crack cocaine" is absurd, and anyone who would utter such nonsense probably hasn't even tried to kick caffeine.
skulldumpJul 13, 2010
Agreed, the only reason I think that might give that statement some validity is purely down to how easy it is to get hold of porn now. Anyone with an internet connection can get all the porn they want which does make 'recovery' that much more difficult i guess. Trying to give up porn when you're only ever one click away has got to be fairly hard to do. However, it is in certainly no way as instantly additictive or as destructive as crack cocaine.
nyxerebosJul 13, 2010
ebbv is right. People just don't have the language to describe, say, a gambling problem, so they call it an addiction, and understand it as such. But it's not the same. Junkies have a chemical dependence, and experience withdrawal.
skulldumpJul 13, 2010
You can call it a problem, you can call it a psychological dependency or you can call it an addiction...either way you're arguing semantics.
Yes junkies do exeprience a chemical dependance, however that it not the sole definition of an addiction, even if historically that has been the main definition. Gamblers can also by definition have a chemical dependance, due the chemicals released in the brain from winning - endorphins can for some people have an addictive effect. The fact that they experience a withdrawl has nothing to do with an addiction, as it's a secondary effect after the fact and anyone who has to give up an addiction or 'problem' has to experience withdrawl to some degree otherwise it wouldn't be a problem. Although I would agree that those with a drug dependancy often have a more difficult and severe withdrawl process.
sonoranJul 13, 2010
The problem comes in when you attribute "addiction" to behaviors our brains are designed to favor. We're wired to crave rich sweet foods, sex and a lot of other things that are labeled as "addictions". This is adaptive behavior our brain's reward system is supposed to work this way. In the case of sex I think the idea that too much sex or masturbation are "bad" are very suspect, since I think they're more statements of moral positioning than anything scientific.
Drugs hijack this reward system and produce much stronger cravings that have nothing to do with the natural stimuli that normally elicit them. Using the same word: "addiction" to describe both is very misleading.
diceauJul 13, 2010
FTA: "In 2003, Today's Christian Woman found in a survey that one out of every six women, including Christians, acknowledged struggling with the same addiction."

oxidaneJul 13, 2010
true, but in regards to boredom the trick is in the foreplay. the longer you do it, the better.
as far as energy is concerned, you can take turns doing the work, or perform fellatio which will allow you to rest for a bit before continuing. that's why they say staying physically fit improves your sex life. i assume most diggers are far from fit/healthy. sexual desire also plays a role, if you dont want it that much, you'll get tired quicker.
