Can the picture be more blurry and low res?!
melthornalJul 30, 2011
I don't think the image is actually blurry. Generally when scientists take a picture of a complex item, and it has a natural blur, they only release very small pictures. They find that common people looking at the pictures would rather have a smaller, more pixelated picture than a larger image showing the naturally weak lines and such that make up the object. People would rather look at a picture that is obviously pixelated intentionally than the actual blurriness in the real image.
So yeah, I doubt the image itself is blurry. The thing itself just doesn't have strong lines, and therefore will look blurry no matter what.

It is aliased, but not blurry.
superkendallJul 30, 2011
Well that was some bulls**t reasoning there. The real answer is that the serve hosting compressed the hell out of the images, probably with the thought they would get a lot of hits.

Everything I just said is completely, 100% truth. Don't believe me? Ask a publisher of any science anything, anywhere in the world. Or ask any artist. Or really anyone who isn't an idiot.

Getting angry isn't going to help your case.
melthornalJul 31, 2011
What case? There isn't a case. There are facts. If people want to ignore facts, that is their own problem.

It so pixilated it looks like the "scientist" or whomever is part of the mosaic.
leland1Jul 30, 2011
It's a small-sized mosaic. More images with slightly better detail:

Thanks, those pictures aren't pixelated mess like the ones linked in this main post.

Why is he the Greek God Apollo? If he was found in Rome, and Romans worshiped Apollo, wouldn't he be the Roman God Apollo? Or the multinational God Apollo?
stusghostJul 31, 2011
He has a tiny penis.

Most of the stories in the Bible were taken from older Egyptian, Babylonian, and Greek mythologies.
JLF2035Jul 31, 2011
2,000 years ago, people knew these gods were real. Now they are considered myths. Just imagine what might be considered to be mythology in another 2,000 years. :)

The city council plans to restore the site with more areas open to the public to give added value to the historical city and create income, the mayor said, adding that it will happen probably by the end of 2012.
