Now they need to take this, and sum the months, and show us the months instead of the hours each day. That way you could more easily see any consistent patterns over time. The map would be less dynamic, but contain more easily interpreted in. One could also sum up even years worth of data (basically make each color a bit less per pixel if it doesn't appear that often), could be some really cool stuff there too.
What is most interesting is that it's not just that the weather moves from west to east along the jet stream, it moves like a cyclone. It's a cyclone that cycles one after the other all year round and never stops. The difference in these cyclones as opposed to hurricanes are their size and intensity. The North American cyclone is the largest and most consistent weather system in the world.
