I think Christie can learn a little from Obama about staying in shape...

says the person who's used the terms "Obamunist" "WTF??" "Libtard" "STFU" and phrases like
"Prosecution of these assh**es is too easy. Put a cruise missile though the front door of Julian Assange's house and stifle this maggot.""
"Blocking the Democrat agenda is the best thing for America."
" Give the country another two years with this dolt and anybody with a pulse will win over the Obamunist."
all within the past week.

Fat men don't win presidential elections in US anymore.
Who was the last really heavyweight president? Howard Taft in 1909-13?
Is Chris Christie a Howard Taft for the 21st Century?
mtnmusicmanNov 30, 2010
Yes and no
hi808Nov 30, 2010
"Fat men don't win presidential elections in US."
I suppose they used to say the same thing about black men.
mtnmusicmanNov 30, 2010
That's a weird comment... Just because of a joke.... You must need a massage or something to relieve your stress...life is way to short....
claudemaiNov 30, 2010
LOL!! Obama is slim due to his problems.
Rouge77Nov 30, 2010
What Christie has mastered is sabotaging public transportation and wasting money.
phydeaux70Nov 30, 2010
You truly haven't been paying attention.
What he's done is smart. Here...I'll prove it to you because you're a Democrat and probably can't understand it if you have to research it yourself.
The Big Dig was estimated to be $2.8 billion (~$6.0 billion in 2006 dollars), and ended up being over $24 billion, roughly 4 times what was projected. Overruns are a huge cost associated with just about every government project.
The New Jersey project was estimated to be $8.7 billion and so far they have estimated at least another $2.7 billion in overruns and they haven't even started the hard part of the work. The State would have been responsible for all overruns, which were guaranteed to happen. The only question would be how much would it cost? The construction companies and the Federal government wouldn't pay for the overruns, so Christie pulled the plug.
The state has to pay back $600 million for the project, but it saves itself at least $2.8 billion. Do the math on that will ya.

I've been paying close attention to his f**king of the educational system in the state.
davidkincaNov 30, 2010
Me too - if by "f**king" you meant "fixing".
inajeepDec 1, 2010
No, see my comment below. He will not fix anything just make it worse.
phydeaux70Nov 30, 2010
You mean asking the teachers to contribute 1% to their health plans? I wish I got off that easy.
If you have examples of how is is 'f**king' the system please provide reference. Otherwise you're just another sensationalist talking point Democrat.
inajeepDec 1, 2010
Even though you gave a very edited one sided version of the event. I will show you how to properly responded and to back up your claims with sources.
http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/08/27/christie-fires-education-commissioner/
Christie fires the commissioner to cover his ass. He didn't want the federal money to offset his leverage to the unions. Unions who were conceding but not to every demand.
Also more important than the budget and his beef with the union is his general method of handling it.
Read this article as it will give you a better view of his view of education. His methods suck in every way.
http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2010/11/njea_head_avoids_criticizing_g.html
I am all for fiscal responsibility and I know the upper echelon of the school system is over burdened but slashing the budget only hurts the students and lays off teachers, it does not fix the problem.
phydeaux70Dec 1, 2010
Christie fired the guy from his own administration for messing up the application and paperwork for a $400 million grant, and that's an issue? They guy even stated that he works for the governor and would leave if asked.
As for the second article I don't know what to make of it. I know in the private sector people have had to give more and more, and contribute huge sums for their insurance. Is it too much to ask that teachers do it as well? Perhaps if they got rid of some of the over paid administrative areas in the school districts there would be a little more left over?
And I must object to your last comment. The single best thing for a child's education is to have involved parents. School is not a daycare or a place that you should send your children to go during the day so you can work or shop. Budget cuts hurt....but in order to minimize the effect that they have on children you (not you personally) had better work to cut other costs at the top. The governor doesn't decide what gets cut out of the school budget, the administrators do....and guess what they decided to cut?
inajeepDec 1, 2010
He fired him to cover his ass. Firing someone for making a simple error is extreme which matches his entire handling of the educational issues in NJ. He didn't want the fed money because he was pissed that they were trying to circumvent his edict.
The teachers were ready to to concede according to the teachers I know, even though they are underpaid and over worked. It never happened due to the friction between the union and gov. Both sides may have shared the blame here but try not to just focus on that one issue.
As far as the last point. Think about it some more. So instead of trying to work with them, he cuts the budget knowing that it won't work. Sounds like it is time to change tactics, no? How about working with them instead of against them? Unfortunately that is something the Gov does not know how to do. The union was trying to work with them and do you see how Chrstie worked with them in that last article?

"Can Obama learn from his success?"
The quick answer is: no.
The long answer is, Obama doesn't want to learn from others, because he thinks he doesn't have to.
analogassassinNov 30, 2010
You hit the nail on the head.
As bad as I thought Bush was (and I HATED Bush), I think Obama's worse.
Obama is exhibiting the same hubris as Bush, only worse. He's f**king hard-headed.
inajeepNov 30, 2010
Can you attribute those thoughts to any real world examples because in terms of actions Obama has been acting more center right than left.
analogassassinDec 1, 2010
I hear a lot of diggers say that. Must be the digg mantra. Look at Obama's influences, his heroes, his studies, he is as radical left as any American in power that I've ever seen. For God's sake, look at Van Jones!
If he appears centrist, then that's because you're not comparing him to American leaders. Maybe Karl Marx.
inajeepDec 1, 2010
Perhaps you are hearing that because it is true and it unfortunately goes against the rhetoric the GOP has been feeding everyone. Your going with his heros and studies and not his actions in office? Your measuring stick is defective. Comparing him to Karl Marx is ridiculous. What do you know about Marxists or their policies?

To learn from anyone requires humility...
Just saying.
UphemismNov 30, 2010
Humility requires an understanding that you might be wrong. This is why politicians, and those that support them, can never be humble. The notion that they might be wrong is simply impossible to them.
hi808Nov 30, 2010
As the old saying goes: "Those who can't do -- teach."
onedeepNov 30, 2010
And those who can't teach -- teach gym.
bille3Nov 30, 2010
No, because Obama prefers to learn his lessons from Cloward, Piven, Ayers, Alinsky, Marx and Lenin.
He is doing a good job of attacking capitalism and promoting government take over.
inajeepNov 30, 2010
Dude, check your GOP handbook page number. Your a few pages behind.
inajeepNov 30, 2010
I hope not. Christie is screwing the educational system the only way the GOP knows how.
1. Cuts budget and funding (even legitimate federal sources)
2. Complains about unions
3. Points to overpaid administrative bureaucracy.
What happens? Teachers get laid off, services such as busing, after school activities, sports/music/etc get cut. s**t gets worse. Oh, the costs get past on so you taxes stay the same and you still have to pay more for busing and your kids get a reduced public education.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
davidkincaNov 30, 2010
It is because of the greedy unions that teachers have gotten laid off in NJ. Christie proposed a pay freeze and for teachers to pay part of their own health care. The unions wouldn't have it...they would rather have teachers get laid off than have them take a small pay cut.
jackson01pNov 30, 2010
We could always learn from each individuals. Give Chris a chance. Well see..
