Interesting. They believe that climate change is manmade.
They just believe it is caused by homosexuals existing rather than by any physical processes occurring.
I must have missed that science class.
kgermJan 26, 2012
its all that hot man on man love, steaming up the atmosphere and melting the ice caps ... duhhh....
D1gst1llsuxJan 27, 2012
It seems to me that Phelps only endorses Obama as a "lesser evil" compared to the adulterers, liars, thieves and so on that plague the rest of the contenders. Is Obama the anti-Christ, NO, Is anyone the ant-Christ, No, Is Fred Phelps certifiably insane, YES.
ekdogJan 27, 2012
Phelps should have run for the Republican nomination. I'll bet he could walk away with a good chunk of votes from the luny GOP electorate.
matthrJan 26, 2012
Wait, why do we care who these guys endorse?
johnnysoftwareJan 26, 2012
I don't know. They are demented. Maybe demented people care.
alanocuJan 26, 2012
Political posturing.
But why should any of us care about who Fred Phelps, lifelong Democrat who ran for Governor of Kansas three times, endorses?
We shouldn't. He's a lunatic.
Would you care that Fred Phelps held fundraisers for Clinton and Gore? Check the photos of Al Gore and Tipper with Fred and family in Topeka. I call it Hee Haw from Hell.
http://www.georgialogcabin.org/news/Fred-Phelps-Al-Gore-Westboro-Baptist-Church-God-Hates-Fags/200010251159.shtml
Pfffff....why do we care who these guys endorse? No big deal. Unless the most hateful and homophobic man in America, endorsed a Republican. Then you would SO care.
And so would the crack team of liberals on Digg. They'd bust a nut.
The reality is that there are bigots in both parties,
matthrJan 26, 2012
That's interesting information, I would have never pegged them as democrats given that the religious right is generally invested in the republicans, and they've said Obama is the anti-Christ. Still I'm unlikely to take these guys advice on anything given how fiercely I disagree with their other expressed views.
I'm not even going to ding newt because they say they would rather re-elect the anti-Christ than him. These guys are nutters and the sooner we ignore them, the sooner they'll stop doing crazy stuff.
rockcosmosJan 26, 2012
Don't peg him as a usual Democrat now. Westboro Baptist in Topeka, KS,is in the middle of one of the most republican states in the nation and an extremely Republican Conservative Christian one at that until you get to the NE section of the state (*an oasis in the desert)
The GOP of KS makes the Daley machine look like child's play.
"Phelps has run in various Kansas Democratic Party primaries five times, but has never won. These included races for governor in 1990, 1994, and 1998, receiving about 15 percent of the vote in 1998.[33] In the 1992 Democratic Party primary for U.S. Senate, Phelps received 31 percent of the vote.[34] Phelps ran for mayor of Topeka in 1993[35][36] and 1997.[37]"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fred_Phelps
He also ran the Gore campaign in that burg in 1984 just like Rick Perry ran it in Texas in 1988.
Keep that comparison in mind - FRED Phelps = the same kind of Democrat as Rick Perry
Alan loves to pretend he knows a lot of things and he plays games with tiny bits of facts to try and establish that he is an expert on everything including Phelps
leodinJan 27, 2012
Alan, do you know anything at all about the histories of the political parties? Do you have any understanding about any of that? You have this f**ked up notion that liberal = Democrat and conservative = Republican, and that this is the way things have always been. Look, I am neither liberal nor conservative, neither Democrat nor Republican, so clearly bias isn't affecting my view of things - and I'm telling you, you're f**king nuts.
arpadJan 27, 2012
Jeez, you could almost forget that the members of the Westboro Baptist church are all registered Democrats and have been most of their adult lives.
Naturally they'd support Obama.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
countess666Jan 27, 2012
they support the guy that repealed "don't ask don't tell"?
ya right.
they know they are hated by all, that's their purpose in life. get hated, get attacked, sue for free speech and get money.
registering as democrats is just part of that posturing. there isn't a single issue they and the democrats agree on.
craig1958Jan 26, 2012
He's just trying to get some free press, as always.
If you read his actual quotes, he is pretty entertaining (and insane). He actually refers to "that there Catholic Church" during the interview (it sounds like a line from Deliverance).
grabateJan 26, 2012
Let me get this straight, these guys would rather have the Antichrist running the country than a "liar, thief and adulterer"
D1gst1llsuxJan 27, 2012
I would.
leodinJan 27, 2012
If you're the sort of person who believes in that sort of thing, wouldn't you? I mean, we're talking end-times and all that, I think you're supposed to support things going down the way they are supposed to. Otherwise, there's no Rapture, there's no Second Coming, there's no express train to heaven... you know, all that good stuff those people are supposed to be looking forward to.
bwiiiJan 27, 2012
God may hate fags, but he ain't no racist, dammit!
Atropos19Jan 26, 2012
The guy actually made a couple of good points. Don't get me wrong. Westboro Baptists are generally insane. I just enjoy the message that Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney are crooks. I think it's actually really significant that basically said that he's not trying to convert people. Just preaching what he believes is the word of god. I don't really have any problems with what he says about Paterno and Sandusky either. I'm not a christian, but maybe it is better that we don't put too much stock into people like that.
And at the very least they are great comic relief.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
the2dquartetJan 27, 2012
I agree, there are a few needles of wisdom in that giant haystack of insanity.
leodinJan 27, 2012
Well, when you start from the position that everyone is evil, and you start talking politics, honestly, how can you not get a few things right?
abstractj3Jan 26, 2012
Bad news for Obama?
johnnysoftwareJan 26, 2012
I'm not sure getting on family's vote is going to turn the election around. Especially when they are this family.
wolf3001Jan 27, 2012
Didn't the KKK endorse him as well so they could see a black man fail? I believe they did so I had heard.
usarugulaJan 27, 2012
No.
apokalyps2547Jan 27, 2012
That turned out to be a myth.

FTA: Timothy Phelps: "We're at a dead sprint toward worldwide acceptance of homosexuals and same-sex marriage. ... No question about it. It can't be any other way... there's no way things are going the other direction."
There you go people, straight from the horse's mouth (even if said horse goes on to repeat Rick "Man on dog" Santorum's thoughts that homosexuality = bestiality)Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

His endorsement is as beneficial as a fart shot a sail boat. Who gives a damn who this nut endorses.
igorunchainedJan 26, 2012
Remember that Stormfront "White Pride" internet site that endorsed Ron Paul, and how the usual jackasses responded to that? Will be interesting who writes this off as nonsense without even a tinge of irony/hypocrisy. Oops...it appears it has already started! *grabs popcorn*Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Now we can confirm: Algore is officially nuts.
