Anyway, Fox News is indeed fair and balanced...at least compared to this kind of crap and MSNBC.

SNL is one of the highest rated shows in 18-49 year old viewers for NBC. As in consistently top 3. So SOMEBODY'S watching.

Too bad Democrats can't be more like Reagen... Oh wait a minute, Reagen increased taxes and spending... Why can't Democrats be more like Clinton... Oh that's right he is a Democrat. If only republicans paid attention to facts... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:US_Federal_Debt_as_Percent_of_GDP_by_President.jpg
If you notice only one Democratic President left office with a higher deficit and that man pulled us out of a depression. There are 4 republicans that left with a higher deficit.
atomheartmotherOct 29, 2010
If you knew anything at all about Reagan you'd at least know how to spell his name correctly.
revovisionaryOct 29, 2010
I'm dyslexic and often misspell words. My comments would be much worse if it weren't for the spell check built into Google Chrome. That said; as a dyslexic person, I assure you that my ability to spell a name or word has nothing to do with my knowledge of that person and/or subject.
atomheartmotherOct 29, 2010
Well yeah, actually it is apparently effecting your knowledge of the subject too. And you're correct that in the later years of his presidency he did raise some taxes, but in the teeth of a severe recession Reagan implemented massive tax cuts and got the deficit as high as 6% of GDP. That helped revive aggregate demand. By contrast, the virtuous Bill Clinton ran budget surpluses and destroyed aggregate demand and incomes and forced greater reliance on private debt. Add to that his insane financial deregulation policies (admittedly also implemented by Reagan, although not to the same degree), and you have the makings for today's economic disaster. And many of the same people responsible for creating the mess are now back in power, courtesy of Mr. Hope & Change.

Yeah I'm confused too... Democrats are the tax and spenders??? I need to make a mnemonic to remember that. I keep getting that confused. I should make a song to help. Maybe I'll use the same melody that I used in my little tune to remember that the Earth is flat and at the center of the universe. Oh... no..no.. I know! I will use the melody to 'Midterm Elections are ALWAYS held on November 30th'. It's a lively jig!! Don't forget my Republican brothers (and don't tell those damned Dems!) get out to vote 30 November -rain or shine- you don't want to miss it.

maybe so. did we mention that the nastiest evil that most of us has ever seen has caused it and that you are on that side of history? - did I mention that some young Republicans said my kids deserved to die because I cannot provide them health care and that is just *snickering* - natural selection? did I mention that i asked said young Republicans if they thought the French aristocrosy suffered at the cruel fate of natural selection in the form of a guillotine?? DID I MENTION THAT -- BECAUSE THAT IS WHERE YOU ACTUALLY ARE IF YOU ARE NOT RICH -- did you mention whether you are rich or not?
TEA PARTY - co-opted by the wealthy shortly after it's self-realization in the form of a myriad of interest groups - mostly Corporate
REPUBLICAN PARTY - he who doesn't know this is a corporate entity shouldn't be having adult conversations.
DEMOCRATIC PARTY - slightly ever so slightly lesser evil of the same stripe (different donors attached to different ideals some serve the public most pretend to)
Democrats are only just the lesser evil but, we are talking about some significant evil here. I'll take my chances.

UphemismOct 11, 2010
Learning happens when you realize that you have made a mistake. Very generally speaking, since those on the left refuse to place accountability on any action , means they never realize they made a mistake(It is always someone elses fault...like probably Bush, maybe Beck, could have been Palin), they never have the ability TO learn...Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
Closed AccountOct 11, 2010
Really, the GOP must be learning a lot, but then they are blaming the Dems for everything...but to the point. I always thought learning was a much more complex process of trial and error, pattern recognition, storage and useful information, and its subsequent use in a varied situation. You're take is a little one dimensional.
UphemismOct 11, 2010
@Somaurelius
If you would notice, your claim of how learning happens actually has that whole "error" thing in there, however, with that error you have to accept that it was "your error", that is known as accountability, and something the left has never came to grips with as evidenced by their continual blaming of others..
Clearly you haven't listened to Obama or the democrats. Every piece of bad news has always been about an "unexpected" loss here, there or anywhere based on things outside their control, and/or due to the last admin.. The "B..b..bu..but BUSH", has become a meme for christs sake...
But please, keep up the projectionism, it is making this November even more interesting. I have got a poll going on who is going to be blamed for the democrats losses then...
It maybe Beck, the left blames him a lot.
It maybe Palin, the left blames her quite a bit.
It maybe Hannity, the left blames him
It maybe O'rielly, the left has placed blame on him as well.
It maybe Limbaugh, the left have blamed him for a number of things...
Accountability - the left hasn't lost it, they never had it.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
BluntzworthOct 11, 2010
Apparently the GOP has not learned that Bush was a mistake yet. They still think he was the best thing since sliced bread. LOL What a joke.
Closed AccountOct 11, 2010
@Uphemism
I still look at your comments as pure partisan bias. Your claim that it only runs on the blue side of things is silly. Accountability? Take a good look at the GOP, eyes open, and tell me they are different, that they believe in this accountability you tout. Or, do they only believe in it for others?
Beck, Palin, Hannity, O'rielly, Limbaugh...you're kidding me right? You want to use those examples to play the blame game of accountability? Those talking heads blame more on the Dems, Obama, Liberals, Progressives, lefties, etc...than Liberals have ever blamed on the GOP. Oh...and guess what, they are not held accountable and never will because they are part of the media.
Blaming the other side is a political strategy, one I don't think the Democrats should be using. But, that leaves us with what?...the GOP doing the exact same thing. This election is sick, its like a spectator sport and the fans are ready to riot if their team loses. The refs, the media, are making bets...
My point...Accountability runs both ways. If, as you say, the left doesn't have it, then it is safe to say that the right, from what I have observed at this juncture, is equally devoid of that characteristic. It is far from your cry of "projectionism."
UphemismOct 11, 2010
Som - You may take a look at any of my posts. While I admit when dealing with those on the left, I do seem to be more right, but that is due to the nature of discussion. As you will find out I am a libertarian, and place the blame of the economy on BOTH the democrats and republicans...
"Take a good look at the GOP, eyes open, and tell me they are different, that they believe in this accountability you tout. Or, do they only believe in it for others? "
- They are politicians. They make their living lying. So of course they are the same as the democrats.
"Beck, Palin, Hannity, O'rielly, Limbaugh...you're kidding me right? You want to use those examples to play the blame game of accountability? Those talking heads blame more on the Dems, Obama, Liberals, Progressives, lefties, etc...than Liberals have ever blamed on the GOP. Oh...and guess what, they are not held accountable and never will because they are part of the media. "
- All part of the two party illusion. They do blame the left, as HuffPo, alternet, TPM, CNN, MSNBC, etc, blame the right. The difference, here on digg, is that one side is seen as bad, and the other side is ignored.
"Blaming the other side is a political strategy, one I don't think the Democrats should be using. But, that leaves us with what?...the GOP doing the exact same thing. "
- Exactly, so why such dislike towards the tea party? Knowing the republicans screwed you, and knowing the democrats screwed you...seems to be the rational choice.
"This election is sick, its like a spectator sport and the fans are ready to riot if their team loses. The refs, the media, are making bets..."
- Sadly, I think this has been coming over the last few elections. I can't remember when exactly, but sometime we stopped listening to each other, and merely started to yell, scream, demean, and slander each other. I wish this would stop. The problems of the world aren't going to be solved with purely conservative ideas.
"My point...Accountability runs both ways. If, as you say, the left doesn't have it, then it is safe to say that the right, from what I have observed at this juncture, is equally devoid of that characteristic."
- From the repubicans and democrats I would agree with this.
"It is far from your cry of "projectionism.""
- Care to take a look at the articles on Digg, and see how they all are about how bad the republicans are? How about how evil the tea parties are? About how merely disagreeing with the democrats are "sedition", as I was accused of the other day? The simple truth is, and can be shown from digg, that while both sides do it, as we both agree, only one side is being outed for it here.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Self righteous Libertarians I will recommend to all ears and vote myself for any and all Libertarians for the next four major elections and even say my prayers that you get in office. I am starting to adopt a little anarchists' tendencies anyway. Go ahead Libertarian's.... but, in the meanwhile STOP pretending to be TEA PARTYORS all of you TP's be warned that these Libertarians are NOT Christian's and they are giving lip service to that "our Christian founding fathers" stuff. Oh and stop pretending that you care EVER for human rights - not compatible with the rights of a vendor to operate a clean racist business.... but, I'll put you in office if you want. I just won't ever pretend that you are something that you aren't - something passively slung at me every time I see a Paul on television - that you are somehow more American or honest or just or fair. Let's go tumbling down your idealistically identical rabbit hole - shall we? Just so that I can laugh at the political turds that come out the other side.

Oh, and smack her in the face a few times. Has nothing to do with finding if she is a witch or not, it just seems like the right thing to do.

UphemismOct 11, 2010
No he wasn't - but it was very clearly laid out right from the get go. The story was that America was fed up with the same old, same old. One guy had the entire campaign mantra as "Change", and the other guy was constantly pictured either right after or just before a picture of Bush was shown.
The idea was simple. America was pissed at the old white guy. America needed change. The vote was between an old white guy, or a young black guy....America needed change....YES THEY DID....
Rightly or wrongly, McCain was Bush for a great many people.

As opposed to voting for the left over from the GOP who wasn't good enough to beat Bush in the 2000 GOP primary. Come on man, we all saw first hand how great Bush was. The GOP couldn't even nominate a decent candidate. I am sure McCain is a fine man in personal life, but as someone who was involved in the Keating 5, how can you nominate him?
bookantOct 11, 2010
" . . . but as someone who was involved in the Keating 5, how can you nominate him?"
Because in spite of all his protestations to the contrary, he's just another 100% devoted GOP partisan; like so many of them these days he's playing independant and pretending to be oh-so-above the "two party illusion" because he's embarassed to be a Republican.
When you can't write more than 2 sentences without the usual FOX "News" one-liner ad hominems against "liberals" "leftists" and Democrats, attack the two party system in theory, but never have a single bad word to say about conservatives or Republicans (except the occasional grudging admission that Bush was aweful in that hopes that no one will realize you supported him) . . . . you just might be a Republican shill.
UphemismOct 11, 2010
BLUNT - If you think McCain was the best the republicans had you are in serious denial. Bush was a tool, but even that tool managed to handle the economy better than Obama has, which says a lot because I don't know one conservative that agreed with his economic plans.
Having said all that though - what about my post wasn't correct? NOTHING - yet what does truth get you on Digg when it is against the democrats or Obama? Buried. Which isn't so bad, if we didn't have to listen to liberals talk about the DP being bad because they buried people...
caramba421Oct 11, 2010

Fair enough...but I disagree about the "McCain would have been no different" part. McCain probably would have greatly expanded all of those things, and we'd probably be invading Iran by now.
Also, regardless of whether those particular policies were continued, those issues are tenets of progressive (and libertarian) ideology. The fact that Obama has continued those policies just means that he has continued mainstream conservative policies, this cannot be an indictment of progressive ideology itself. Liberals still abhor these policies, but many people are just resigned to recognizing that he was the lesser of the evils presented to us.
If I could have Kucinich, I certainly would.
tyhoOct 15, 2010
Blunt,
A little fact you might like to know...
"McCain was "in the middle of" the Keating Five case in the sense that he was "exonerated." The lawyer for the Senate Ethics Committee wanted McCain removed from the investigation altogether, but, as The New York Times reported: "Sen. McCain was the only Republican embroiled in the affair, and Democrats on the panel would not release him."
So John McCain has been held hostage by both the Viet Cong and the Democrats. "
caramba421Oct 11, 2010
If by "have the media" you mean that most news networks don't present your pre-approved narrative. There is still conservative bias in all network news because they all fall in the trap of being sucked into Fox's echo chamber.

She should be an easy enough candidate to debunk on her suggested policies (or lack thereof), and her supporters aren't exactly going to be deterred by attacks from the "liberal media." People aren't going to care about who is a witch if they're still struggling to find jobs.
