I wouldn't count Barr out. She has performed miracles in the past. A while back, while visiting the Batman 3 set, she witnessed a stunt-gone-wrong in which Catwoman was feared to be dead. Barr rushed to the scene, and after she performed a ritual that onlookers described only as "creepy", Catwoman rose to her feet and walked off set as if nothing had happened.
That's right... Ms Barr ... Rose Anne.
tl;dr

So much for a legitimate Green Party in the US.

With her multiple personality, she can also serve as the VP.
michaelpintoFeb 3, 2012
she and newt should start the cinnabon party — their mascot will be homer simpson and their policy will be "leave no doughnut behind"

"Roseanne Barr said Thursday she's running for the Green Party's presidential nomination — and it's no joke."
No, it is a joke.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

f**k all the haters - this is brilliant.
Roseanne Barr likely knows she will never be President. However, Ms. Barr also seems very canny about taking up the reins of the media in this country and creating a platform for issue-based policy discussion and providing a means to inform the public about issues she considers important.
All I see is more news stories about green issues in the run-up to the 2012 election. This is a positive thing - especially as Ms. Barr is actually quite intelligent and certainly in touch with a segment of the population that needs green tech issues on their radar more often.
Imagine if she can get herself into the debates! She certainly has a HUGE amount of media clout and the network of a veteran insider.
I'd tune in to see Ms. Barr in any debates for the Office of President in this country on any network, as long as she's along side Obama and Romney. I'll tell you one thing - she can hold her own.
Could the networks really afford NOT to include her - given the prospective insane ratings spike? I'd love to hear the boardroom meetings at Fox and CNN on that prospect.

"Roseanne Barr likely knows she will never be President."
Yes, running for president as a 3rd party is a sure sign that you're not serious. The person who came closest in recent history, Ross Perot, bowed out of the race when it started looking like he really had a chance.
Running for president as a third party is a way to get your issue onto the national stage, without risk of ending up with actual responsibilities.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

I don't think it's a sure sign you're not serious at all. It shows you're serious about framing the discussion - something Perot and Nader both intended.
But yes, until we get end the dominance of the two quasi-legal, mega-organizations known as the GOP and the Democratic Party, we won't see much significant political change barring a revolution.
amaoicanFeb 3, 2012
Sorry, I cut my sentence short. It was supposed to say something along the lines of not seriously seeking the Office. Perot and Nader both have/had serious and important initiatives, but I don't think either one of them really wants to be President.
A two party system is an almost inevitable result of the First Past the Post system we use. There are a few ways we could fix the problem - the best way would be to implement some kind of corrective system so that parties which received a larger percentage of the national vote than the percentage of the legislative seats would get extra seats... they do something like that in Germany IIRC.
So you'd have the 435 House guys elected as they are now, then another, say, 65 guys selected from parties who are underrepresented in the legislature. Imagine that the Dems get 45% of the national votes, Reps get 45%, Green Party gets 6% and the Tea Party gets 4%, but the seats are distributed, say, 220 for the Dems, 215 for the Reps, none for the other two. No fair! It should be 225,225,30,20, so the Dems get 5 additional Representatives, the Reps get 10, the Greens get 30 and the Teas get 20.
(That's a pretty neat and orderly example; what happens if the majority party got more seats than their national results would grant them? They don't lose seats, but the 65 seats are granted in such a way that the most underrepresented party gets preference. So they look at the ratio of the number of seats you have to the number of seats you "should" have, and the party with the lowest ratio gets a seat; repeat 64 more times.)Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

She s probably end up eating the party before anything becomes official

She would be better than Romney or Gingritch.

People think the Green Party is all about clean air/clean water. There's more to them.
Part of the Green Party official platform is steps that would cause the destruction of the state of Israel.
From the Green Party website:
"The Green Party of the United States has endorsed a statement calling for a comprehensive strategy of boycott and divestment that would pressure the government of Israel to guarantee human rights for Palestinians."
Boycott and disinvestment.
In other words, ruin Israel's economy so they can't afford to defend themselves. So that next time they're attacked by 3 rabid Arab armies they'll all be slaughtered. f**k you very much.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
