Well it was a fun ride, and I learned some things....
1) Sometimes it is ok to mess with Texas.
2) Maybe we have learned from our Bush mistakes?
3) ..... ummm...... EPA? Let's see. I can't... The third one.... Sorry. Oops.
crom99Jan 19, 2012
Bullet dodged.
concusionJan 19, 2012
what you didn't want the Marlboro Man as your president?
langfordJan 19, 2012
He had no real chance of getting the nomination anyhow.
NeosopheusJan 19, 2012
Now it is being reported that Santorum won Iowa.
NeosopheusJan 19, 2012
Dugg down for reporting the truth.
FrankLuskaJan 19, 2012
The certified results of 1,766 precincts made public Thursday showed Santorum with 29,839 votes, followed by Romney – a former Massachusetts governor – with 29,805, Texas Rep. Ron Paul in third with 26,036, former House speaker Newt Gingrich with 16,163, Texas Gov. Rick Perry with 12,557, Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann – who quit the race one day after Iowa’s first-in-the-nation caucuses – with 6,046 and former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman with 739. Party officials said 121,503 votes were certified.

f**king finally! He is a national embarrassing for aggies and Texans in general.
erik1421Jan 19, 2012
I'm getting Digg grammered. Should've read that comment before posting.
trickytJan 19, 2012
I think your grammar got Digg spelled.
atomheartmotherJan 19, 2012
Nothing wrong with your grammar. I assumed you meant the embarrassment was an ongoing thing.
stevanoskiJan 19, 2012
lol
inetroadkillJan 19, 2012
He's only now figuring out he's got no chance? Now if he will only resign as governor, that would be cause for celebration.
equinox2o12Jan 19, 2012
Serious. These people need to get out of my Texas.
stevanoskiJan 19, 2012
One of the best Governors ever! Viva El Perry
bluenose2Jan 19, 2012
Kinky Friedman for Governor.
stevanoskiJan 19, 2012
HE has my vote!
treehugger87Jan 19, 2012
Best at what? Making Texas look bad?
stevanoskiJan 19, 2012
Take you hate blinders off. Perry not perfect by any means but has done a great job in Texas.
treehugger87Jan 19, 2012
He's an embarrassment to all Americans. Anything positive that has happened in TX while he's been governor has been by accident or will have serious long term repercussions.
stevanoskiJan 19, 2012
Perry has been a great Gov.
countess666Jan 19, 2012
wasn't Texas in fact made precisely for these people?
FrankLuskaJan 19, 2012
The door is wide open for you.
countess666Jan 19, 2012
they'd probably hang me from the nearest tree the moment they knew about my political positions.
FrankLuskaJan 19, 2012
In some parts of the state, just have to know where to go and where not to go, like Jasper.
jpurdyJan 19, 2012
Agree wholeheartedly, unfortunately he probably won't. Anita will have another burning bush experience and convince him to stay in office as governor.
talkndocJan 19, 2012
The only way Republicans are going to come up with a candidate that the party will solidly support and who will stand a chance of winning is by thie winnowing process. So, narrowing the playing feed is good.
stevanoskiJan 19, 2012
Agree
gkiltzJan 20, 2012
Better late than never!!
practikelJan 19, 2012
Finally!
jpurdyJan 19, 2012
Finally, after wasting $millions contributed by gullible, fanatical and misguided supporters, as well as Texas taxpayer funds for security on his quixotic campaign and book signing tours. It's probably too much to expect that he'll retire to Virginia as did his ideological predecessor Tom Delay. Delay elected not to come back to Texas because state law would require him to give up accumulated campaign funds. Perry's corruption has trumped even Delay's. As an officer in the USAF, Perry made an oath to support and defend the Constitution, without reservation. His promotion of unconstitutional state legislation and signing of extremist pledges to promote unconstitional efforts in federal government are clearly abrogations of that oath.

Whew, that was painful to watch!
barfomaticJan 19, 2012
Now if we could get millionaire Mitt out of the race !
FrankLuskaJan 19, 2012
You don't think this one percent-er can be for the people? I don't either!
drich255Jan 19, 2012
Just curious, do you have problem with the Kennedy's wealth too? The Clinton's? The Obama's?
barfomaticJan 20, 2012
The Clinton's and the Obama's had no where near the wealth that Romney had when they took office. Kennedy had the money of his wealthy family behind him but he was more in tune with the 99% than the 1%. I believe Romney is a true 1%er and cares less about the common electorate. Trouble with DC is that it's a town of millionaires out of touch with reality.
drich255Jan 19, 2012
I don't know it it should be Newt, Santorum, or Paul -- but I would prefer to see this be a two person race between Mitt and the more conservative alternative.
limitgovJan 19, 2012
So it'll be between Romney and Dr. Ron Paul
craig1958Jan 19, 2012
Nope, it will be between Romney and whichever candidate the Christian nutballs finally decide to back. That's the race; the guy who has the best chance in the general election v. the token "social conservative" who will go down in flames.
limitgovJan 19, 2012
We should ask these neocon geniuses what the plan is after we kill Ahmadinejad? They need to be forced to answer this question.
craig1958Jan 19, 2012
Somehow, I doubt they have a plan.
atomheartmotherJan 19, 2012
Crawling into a turtle shell and pretending the real world isn't out there isn't a cogent plan, that's for sure.
limitgovJan 19, 2012
so, what is the plan after they kill Ahmadinejad?
have newt and santorum thought the rest of the plan out?
particleman420Jan 19, 2012
since when have republicans ever planned anything farther than the first step?
atomheartmotherJan 19, 2012
I think that's a question which doesn't need an answer, as I'm aware of no statements by either men indicating that's what they'd do.
Do you have links to any?Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

parti gives an answer in basic black and white thinking mode not caring whether his statement has any truth to it.
limitgovJan 19, 2012
"I think that's a question which doesn't need an answer"
You;'re serious? They say they want to bomb Iran. To what end? Just a couple of bombs here and there? No, to kill Ahmadinejad. But to what end? What's the plan after they kill Ahmadinejad?
stevanoskiJan 19, 2012
?
eastversewestJan 19, 2012
And your screen name is "limitgov"? You are talking about our government assassinating the president of a sovereign nation with that screen name? o the irony!
limitgovJan 19, 2012
I don't support the idea. I just want to know what these neocon fools plan on doing after our military kills Ahmadinejad. Do they even have a plan?
stevanoskiJan 19, 2012
Aww, in your Utopia Christians don't get a vote?
craig1958Jan 19, 2012
I don't care who/what they vote for; I'm just watching the freak show.
nairebisJan 19, 2012
He specified "Christian nutballs". Not all Christians are nutballs, but unfortunately there are a hell of a lot of Talibangelicals in the Republican party that think the country is a theocracy and they will only support a crazy fundamentalist candidate (like Santorum, for example). Fortunately, at least for now, they don't usually hold enough power to get candidates over the line.
stevanoskiJan 19, 2012
And no LiberalTalis? Sure there are it's just their religion is Government.
bluenose2Jan 20, 2012
Not for us atheists.
craig1958Jan 19, 2012
Thanks, I wasn't implying that all christians will only vote for fundamentalists. However, there is a vocal minority that are leading an "anyone but Romney" campaign at the moment. The adults in the republican leadership need to get these clown under control if they want a viable candidate.
stevanoskiJan 19, 2012
good enough and good point.
bluenose2Jan 20, 2012
Unfortunately, there are no real adults in the GOP.
reaper527Jan 19, 2012
won't be sad to see him go. perry is far to soft on illegal immigration and just overall isn't a viable candidate right now.
looks like we're down to the final 4 (excluding the no name candidates that don't even meet the requirements to be part of the debates)
atomheartmotherJan 19, 2012
You have no hearrrrrt.
h8f8kesJan 19, 2012
Does that mean he is going to endorse the other bush clone mittens then?
Ouzel7Jan 19, 2012
Probably going to endorse Newt.
particleman420Jan 19, 2012
because who needs ethics in politics?
Ouzel7Jan 19, 2012
Well, certainly you're not claiming the Democrats are masters of ethics...
It's going to be a choice between bad and worse.

Yeah he does, he is a true kookade drinker. Only sees in black and white.
particleman420Jan 19, 2012
i'm not talking about democrats at all since YOU were talking about republicans and i was replying to you.
nice deflection attempt though!
h8f8kesJan 21, 2012
Particleman hits the bong so often he sees only republicans as the bad guys. In his mind the democrats have never done anything unethical or illegal.
drnbhashyamJan 19, 2012
naturally he may goo for the winning horse as Huntsman did earlier
ridgerunner5Jan 19, 2012

meowmaJan 21, 2012
So long, dips**t!
ferretmanJan 19, 2012
Bummer, but for now I think he's better off serving Texas.
He's a *very* good governor and Texas is likely to be one of the remaining bastions of freedom should there be a second Obama term, so I'm happy with him continuing to be in charge there. He can do a bit of seasoning in the meantime and try again in 2016.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

He sucks as governor and he's a moron. Ann Richards was the last good Republican governor.
atomheartmotherJan 19, 2012
Yeah, ole "Ma" Richards with the beehive hairdo.
She was great for comedic purposes anyway.
particleman420Jan 19, 2012
that's your big disagreement with her? she had funny hair?
is that why you really dont like obama? those big ears?
atomheartmotherJan 19, 2012
I liked her. Relax.

great at spending federal government money!
stevanoskiJan 19, 2012
We are a net DONOR state, we never get back all we've given the Fed.s
http://bokertov.typepad.com/btb/2011/06/texas-is-a-major-donor-state.html
"Texas is a major donor state. We Texans send billions of dollars to Washington, D.C., in the form of federal gas taxes and income taxes. These are Texas-earned, Texas-generated dollars—monumental amounts of money, substantially more than flows back into this state. So the idea that we're going to be purer than pure and not take any money back because it's been identified as stimulus dollars? These are our dollars. This is our money.""
http://www.taxfoundation.org/research/topic/60.html
"Federal Tax Burdens and Expenditures: Texas is a Donor State
Texas taxpayers receive less federal funding per dollar of federal taxes paid compared to the average state. Per dollar of Federal tax collected in 2005, Texas citizens received approximately $0.94 in the way of federal spending. This ranks the state 35th nationally and represents a slight decrease from 1995, when Texas received $0.95 per dollar of federal taxes paid (ranking them 37th nationally). Neighboring states and the amount of federal spending they received per dollar of federal taxation paid were as follows: New Mexico ($2.03), Oklahoma ($1.36), Arkansas ($1.41), and Louisiana ($1.78). "
FrankLuskaJan 20, 2012

particleman420Jan 20, 2012
i have 2 phrases:
1. tough s**t, society is complicated
2. and? how is spending federal money the worst thing in the world when anyone but your political heroes do it?
your justification of your hypocrisy is nothing but bulls**t
stevanoskiJan 20, 2012
The point is that your assertion is wrong, Texas is a net donor state. I've corrected you on this before but you continue to spout this nonsense about TX getting soooo much back from the Federal Government. Just let us keep what we have to send to Washington and we won't need any, zip, zero from the fed.s
particleman420Jan 20, 2012
i understand what you say, but you say it like it's a justification to spend so much federal money
stevanoskiJan 19, 2012
He is. A newstory yesterday pointed out that just as Romney used lessons he learned 4 years ago to make a more prepared run this cycle so will Perry and Huntsman the next cycle.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

leodinJan 19, 2012
Freedom? In Texas? What the f**k? It's one of the more repressive states you can live in.
stevanoskiJan 19, 2012
cites? re: repressive state and TX being a "more" repressive state.
leodinJan 19, 2012
Do I need to go farther than the fact that it took the Supreme Court to repeal Texas' anti-sodomy law? Yeah, freedom and small government are really SOOOOOO important to Texans. Texans, and conservatives in general, don't give a flying f**k about freedom. It's a catch-phrase you shmucks use to try to deceive well-intentioned libertarians. The average conservative supports big government just as much as the average liberal, the only difference is you lie about your support for big government.

As a native Texan, and can tell you that he sucks as a governor, but the comptroller has most of the power anyhow. Power in Texas is very divided amongst many offices, leaving little remaining in the hands of the governor. There is nothing impressive about being governor of Texas.
stevanoskiJan 19, 2012

It's near closing time, and the GOP have to see who they're going home with.
Perry was brash and honest, but likely a bad lay. Ron Paul's too old, Bachmann - too repressed for girl-on-girl, Santorum's just going to drink tea and quote scripture, then leave without even so much as a hand job. Huntsman was too ladylike for someone who goes for the bad boys, and Cain was an obvious playa.
Now Perry, gets up and leaves the bar. He got the hint. Cain left awhile ago.
We all know it's going to be Romney.
Gingrich is over their leering into his lowball glass, counting on beer goggles, your inherent slut factor, and his big head being a drunk-girl radar target. All the while, Romney sits there on the next stool with that dopey grin, chattering along - a haunted typewriter locked in an office building, the right words dropping from his perfect teeth at regular intervals like a stock ticker grinding the minutes away, and his mechanical pulse ticking in your ear like a janky Gypsy Fortune Telling Machine about to spit out the bad news any second now.
The truth is Gingrinch, the notorious cad, isn't getting past the dirty little feel-up and sloppy frenching he gave you in the bathroom line while Romney sat dutifully at the bar, looking at his watch and drinking Ovaltine. Gingrinch tried to get a meaty paw into your panties and that's when you stormed drunkenly back to your barstool to gather your wits.
Well, it's last call. Here's the GOP, stalling at the bar in some existential Mexican stand-off between the missionary position and the ball-gag, the complete loss of self-respect over choosing a short life of disgusting adulterous thrills or a long boring imprisonment in an Ozzie and Harriet re-run written by her parents.
As the GOP fixes her make-up and finishes off that 8th gin and tonic, Romney woodenly stands and takes her arm and she says a little prayer - that God help her figure out how to get off that weird underwear she hears Mormons wear. Who knows? Maybe I'll think it's sexy, she muses as she steps into the cold streets, knowing it's a lie...Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
