youtube.com — On 8.28.2010, Glenn Beck's "Restoring Honor" rally was held on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. The purpose of the rally, which Beck claimed to be "non-political" despite featuring Tea Party-favorite Sarah Palin as a speaker and its being attended entirely by conservatives, was unclear. The participants spoke abstractly about the need to restore "honor" and "pride" to a country that had lost it. When pressed for when our country had lost its honor, most cited the election of Barack Obama.

im sure these people are kind people, but man they are stupid

So many words I want to type...it's just so sad that we (the US) have such a large number of people who are so easily lead, manipulated by their fear and/or who choose to be blind and ignorant of facts. Not one individual in this entire video could substantiate why they believed or thought what they did except to blindly quote something they had heard from Beck or Fox News. Be afraid people, be very afraid...we move quite rapidly into totalitarian rule.

As awful as their comments sound, they probably watch this video with pride.

Very professional documentation of the wingnuttery that is the teabag party, and I have to take this opportunity to remind everyone that we told you so. When the Tea Parties first erupted following that obviously staged santelli rant on cnbc, we told you these things were corporate astroturfing. When the libertarian message was slowly, skillfully replaced by a traditional far right Republican message, we told you this was their plan. Now, the PR experts hired by corporate oligarchs are trying to get out the vote using these idiots to frame their message, hoping to not only stop reform, but take even more control over our democracy so they can tell you wtf to do with your lives. Cheap labor conservatives is all this boils down to, and our country is indeed in peril, but not from some muslim conspiracy, but rather from proto-fascists within.

Great post, that is what I mean, if these weak minded and lazy people would do their homework on these organizations they would see who is really running their show.
jdenzerSep 1, 2010
Agreed that it was professional. But I am curious as to what interviews he got that weren't fringe or stupid. I can't believe that he did not find one person out there with a rational thought or at least knew what they were talking about.

There surely are calm, intelligent, level-headed, rational conservatives. Not a single one of them watches Glenn Beck or wants anything o do with him. What I've never really been able to figure out is how they reconcile the validity of their beliefs with the simple truth that the only way those beliefs hold traction among anything resembling a minority is to have them pitched by a snake oil salesman. It seems like at some point or another they would have to realize that the only people who agree with them are idiots.

f**king morons. I know everybody is entitled to their own opinion, but it doesn't change the fact that these guys are f**king morons.

It's amazing the interviewer's head didn't explode from the extreme density present...sad
limeparrotAug 31, 2010
I think he's a very skilled interviewer. They keep digging a deeper hole for themselves.
ChrisTackettAug 31, 2010
He has done other videos like this at Tea Party events and is one of the best interviewers I have seen. Very calm, nice and lets them speak. His follow-up questions are often the perfect way to get them to further highlight their confusion.

Chase Whiteguy...I mean, Whiteside, and Eric Stoll have been doing a lot of these types of interview videos, during the mass gatherings of Tea Party followers.
They are only showing the most ill-informed comments, that can't be denied, ( or, if they do deny this, it's hard to believe otherwise.) but I do believe that the responders are representative of a great majority of those in attendance.

Because of so many of these videos not only from this rally, but many of the tea rallies and the other so-called "grassroots" organizations I have come up with a new slogan. Please feel free to use it on your Facebook or MySpace accounts.
DO YOUR HOMEWORK AMERICANS BEFORE YOU BELIEVE ANYONE'S WORDS!!!

Very true - do your homework. Example: The woman talking about not being able to "pray" at a national monument in DC "anymore" is incorrect, in that 41
Fed. Reg. 12879, 12880 (Mar. 29, 1976) prohibits loud political or religious gatherings or demonstrations at any monument ...in DC; however, it does allow that a rally or large gathering of non-political, non-religious (neutral) nature can be held with a permit, except that no permit can be issued for the Jefferson, Lincoln, Washington monuments, and Vietnam Memorial; however, they do allow "official" commemorative events at these four monuments, which is why Beck was allowed to hold his rally there since he "claimed" it was in conjunctions with the MLK commemoration of MLK's "I have a dream" speech (albeit questionable since he mentions God and has Sarah Palin as a speaker). What's interesting, and revealing about the woman's statement at the Beck rally is that she used the words "...can NO LONGER pray", since this Federal Regulation has been in effect since 1976 - 34 years!See More

A respectful reporter talking to respectful attendees speaking their minds freely. It is a great sampling of those who wend to Glenn Beck's rally. It's a great source of information.

Hey, her sister lives in Arizona. Get with it.

That's the response that got me, too. Yeah, case closed now, huh?!

What patriotic people they are. The first woman interviewed is clueless about her act of flag desecration. Wearing the flag as a piece of clothing is a violation of the flag code. Typical of the right to be stupid, a right that is not guaranteed in the Constitution.
jdenzerSep 1, 2010
I enjoy the way the interviewer allows the people to embarrass themselves on their own. I mean he doesn't force a confrontation by arguing with them. The guy who said Beck never called Obama a racist, tried to say the interviewer was forcing a confrontation.
jdenzerSep 1, 2010
That one woman who did know about children having to wait until they are 21 for their parents to seek citizenship. I thought there was a least some hope, when she said she didn't know that and it was interesting. Then she totally destroyed that hope, when she said she only listens to what her sister tells her.
