It's a shame tailors and fine clothes can't hide the House's REAL shame...their corruption and incompetence. That national disgrace does FAR more damage to the institution's dignity and legislator reputations.
Tragically, that fundamental truth is lost on Boehner. If he had a brain and soul, he wouldn't be wasting precious Congressional time by focusing on insignificant issues like the House's dress code.
What set him off? Barnie Frank blasting a "nip shot"? Get over it, John!
This from a guy who used to pass out tobacco industry lobbying bribes, er, checks on the house floor. Watch the youtube video link of his response which seems to be rehearsed and utterly insincere:
Don't forget that the Boehner dress code requires members to have lobbyist cheques folded neatly in their breast pockets so that they can hand out those bribes on the house floor.
I never understood why a strict dress code like that matters so much. I would think the business you are supposed to be carrying out would be far more important than how stuffy you dress. I wouldn't give a s**t if they came to work in fuzzy slippers and robes as long as they were doing their damn jobs.
I'd like to tighten his tie a few notches.. He's right though, Gov. suits need to wear suit and tie,, when the Leader Suit is wearing his. Ladies in red power dress.
He's right, for once, on this one. It's a matter of respect to the institution and, more importantly, to the members of the public who elect them and who pay their salaries. The least they can do is put on a coat and tie once a year for a televised Joint Session....most of us can't even get into a decent restaurant without them much less into the Capitol chambers.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Did he include a reminder to check their brain and balls at the door?
macbookformeJan 25, 2012
That would be faaar too much to ask those insider trading crooks...
norman619Jan 25, 2012
Well since he checked his brain at the door I think it slipped his mind...

Yeah, because if anyone knows how to be taken seriously it's the guy with the tan job that belongs on Jersey Shore.
dollar0dot02Jan 25, 2012
I feel offended seeing that nobody in the House wear a wig.

pink ties and spray tans for all!!!
rogue100Jan 25, 2012
Start working for the people you represent rather than your corporate owners, and you can show up on the house floor nude for all I care.
norman619Jan 26, 2012
But PLEASE turn off the C-Span video feed when they do that.

Make sure to look up his voting record when it comes to the tobacco industry. Methinks something is amiss.
particleman420Jan 25, 2012
yea, but at least he was wearing a tie when he did it!
norman619Jan 26, 2012
Yeah but was it a clip-on?

I don't care if they show up barefoot in shorts, as long as the work gets done.
muxmasterJan 25, 2012
I wouldn't give a damn what they wore as long as they did their jobs correctly, which I think (IMO) never happen.
norman619Jan 25, 2012
I can't remember when was the last time congress actually did their jobs.
particleman420Jan 25, 2012
when was the last time they voted themselves a new raise or better benefits?
norman619Jan 26, 2012
every chance they got.

It is sad that one would need to issue a dress-code reminder.

Oh no! They didn't wear a tie.
gkiltzJan 26, 2012
How much kickback was he getting from the clothing industry?
chadpyleJan 25, 2012
If these degenerates aren't going to govern responsibly, the least they can do is dress the part.

I agree with him. The ties can always be removed when they leave, if they are so uncomfortable.

Don't look like crooks or people might start connecting the dots?
